I think if we have to come out and beat Texass convincingly to move up any further than we are right now. If it’s a close one, we either stay the same or fall in the rankings 1 or 2 spots.

Vegas odds open with us a 5 point underdog in Austin.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see it get just a few points bigger than that by game day. It seems you can throw the Vegas odds out the window when it comes to the Big 12 this year anyway.

I don't put too much thought into rankings, but it's awful telling to see Bama just drop to #5 after losing to an unranked team running out a (pretty underwhelming until now) backup QB who had lost 2 games in a row.

Seriously, A&M's expectations had gotten squashed pretty hard after the Arkansas & Mississippi State (yuck) losses, then that game made them look like they deserved the expectations. To me, it seems to make it look like we got oversold on Bama...

BIG will start eating their own like last weeks Iowa-PSU game and teams will drop.
I'm sure Kentucky will get side-tracked now that BB practice has started.
ND continues to live on the edge and will catch up to them, again.

For us, just win baby.

I agree that Alabama's Top 5 ranking is pretty absurd. Rankings and the like are difficult in college football because of the scheduling, small sample size, etc. But the outcomes of the games have to matter. And yes, an undefeated Big XII team with wins over two ranked teams ought to be given more respect.

But, honest question, who here really thinks we are one of the 10 best teams in the country? I don't.

I think our defense is top 10.

This was cute. An Iowa fan trying to offer up logical explanations as to why they're ranked above Georgia lol
Not really. Just look at the instructions. Every team starts with marbles based on a specific formula. Which is easy to understand. Then every team either loses or gains marbles based on their performance each week.

They get an automatic 3.5 for being in Austin. We probably would get an automatic 3-3.5 in Stillwater as well. What I’m not getting is why it’s 5.5 now. Just quick looking at stats, I could see where Texas could be favored up to 13. Must be mad respect to our defense or injuries or weather is expected.

Can someone explain how Kentucky beating a 3-2 LSU earned them 5 spots to leap frog us to 11 in the AP?? A win in Austin will take care of that, I know, but still.
