Just like people survived Bush's Great Recession and his unfounded Iraq War,

Right. HIS war. Definitely not a legal military action that was voted on and approved by BOTH houses of congress.

There aren't enough eye roll emoji's in the world for my reaction to your post. I'm not saying it was a good war or a just war. But calling it his war is just asinine.

Still, Bush for months before any congressional vote constantly stressed the need to invade Iran, due to it having weapons of mass destruction, like it might as well be his war, his baby. At the same time, Scott Ritter, a Republican and former weapons inspector for Iraq went about the country disputing there were WMD in Iraq. Maybe you are just too young to remember all that. Or would you love to point out that Ritter was arrested multiple times for trying to have sex with underage girls?

Praying for four.
I won't be too surprised if Republicans in the Senate turn against Trump by the end of the year, and he will see, like Nixon did, that he had better resign. Once again, Republicans get a good deal for it--Pence, doubly so for the Evangelicals.
They aren't stupid. It would destroy the Republican party forever and leave america in the hands of communists.

This. Pence is almost certainly clean in all of this. He's a boy scout and understands how to behave as a politician so even if he got his hands dirty he's smart enough to leave himself with plausible deniability (IMO if Trump goes down its because be didn't come up with a fall guy).

If I'm a dyed in the wool Republican a part of me would think it's a best case scenario. Trump is Trump but he isn't a die hard conservative. It's really weird that the evangelicals have embraced him, but it's not like they are going to turn around and prefer a Biden or Warren to Pence. There is a risk of alienating the 4Chan crowd but they probably don't vote so who really cares. The white collar Republicans who've been forced to turn up their nose and support him have someone they can really get behind. Whatever he may ultimately be found guilty of, it's easy to spin as on him and not a referendum on the party he happened to be the nominee of. Hell, the party leaders that end up delivering the killing blows probably look like heroes to moderates. As an anecdotal reference, I saw where Paul Ryan as a board member of Fox news is trying to get the network to turn on him. He said he has more power now to do that. Part of me thinks wtf as Speaker you could have made a stand, but I get it. Even in his position he was limited but he's in a place now where he has a little more freedom to speak with his conscience. I'm kind of surprised Flake hasn't tried to challenge but he's probably biding his time to see how this plays out.

See what I just said. I'm not calling for the guys head but I think if it plays out right you guys can get a clean break and have plenty of time to put solid candidates into the 2020 race. If Trump was a solid Republican insider for the last few decades, yeah die on that hill. But no rational voter sees him as a true Republican and I guarantee that if the impeachment is framed right and the nation moves on quickly it's not going to kill congressional Republicans in 2020.

I’ve always thought this is why Haley resigned from UN. Play this out. Thanks to Trump Biden gets overtaken by Warren. But at the same time the takedown in part leads to him resigning. Pence won’t motivate the required amount of the 30% that would never leave Trump. Nor can he pull in enough independents. But a Haley vs Warren fight might energize enough to keep the WH for another term.

I disagree on Pence. 25% of them will jump in a heartbeat if they think 4-8 years of Pence gives them a generational solidly conservative supreme court. I've seen too many people on Facebook saying God handpicked Trump to convince me otherwise. The independents voted for Trump so they can be convinced to vote for literally anyone if the message is right. And he doesn't need them he just needs them to stay home. I'm not voting for him, but if we get something like Booker (vegan, pushing the new green deal) vs Pence, I could see myself voting 3rd party in 2020 because I can't support either. It's sad but both parties alienating the moderates (to be fair Pence doesn't automatically do that) supports Republicans in the next election. I think both parties are at fault with that but it wouldn't be a terrible right wing strategy.

You have no idea about anything involving republican politics. The republican party and its voters are near 100% behind him (all polls, even those from hostile pollsters) have his support north of 90%. If the Republican establishment think they will get away with it, they will fracture the party and leave the country in the hands of socialists and communists.

I'd watch the country burn from the preceding communist take over before I vote republican again if they dare impeach trump.
