I have been wanting to try Bruichladdich but, as of yet, have not been able to find it. Their head distiller is the current "golden boy" of the Scotch world.
My son got me a membership in a Scotch of the month club and that was last month's offering. It's called the "Taster's Club" and I get a different single malt Scotch from a different distillery each month. It's been a learning experience since each bottle comes with a thorough description of what, when, where, and how it's made.

Everything Erick said...

To me scotch is the booze that improves the most as the price goes up.....going back to the bourbon thread I've had really expensive bourbons that don't impress me much more than the first step up....and I've had $20 dollar bottles of wine that out do $200 dollar ones...but scotch is a different story I've had some really old really expensive scotch's and the fancy colors of Johnny Walker that put their less expensive brothers completely to shame without exception.

I'm about to get crushed for this but.....I drink J&B for my everyday scotch....but I go bourbon over scotch so I'm not the best reference.
Just ran into this thread but J&B can do no wrong.

It's falling out of favor everywhere. I ordered at the fancy movie house and the waiter came over twice to make sure I knew what I was talking about. Then the manager shows up to shake my hand saying he was glad there were still some old school bastards left in this world. Very unreal as I was trying to get my scotch on and watch a flick.

Got a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label for my birthday recently. Not being a JW fan I was pleasantly surprised. Heck of a first bite then smooth as glass. One and a half fingers down andthe next two and a half were gone before I knew it. Crazy expensive to buy but an excellent gift to receive. Special occasions only.

Very nice gift!! I’ve always wanted to try Blue but can’t pry that kind of money loose for a blend.
Monkey Shoulders is my new go to blend. You might give it a try.

I have Monkey Shouder as well.d My brother turned me on to it. Like you, I'm way to frugal (cheap) to spend that kind o $ on alcohol. It's my nature. I know you understand. :)

Both were outstanding but the Highland Park 18 may well be the best I've ever had. If not, it's a close second.
I splurged and got some Glenlivet 14 today. I'm normally a Jameson guy for the hard stuff but I just felt like having a scotch.

The catch is my muni also had their first release of Schells Goosetown which is my favorite spring beer. The production runs from April to September so it was already getting late for it to show. So I'm having a really good beer tonight and the good stuff will have to wait until, well tomorrow because I'm kid free this weekend and totally lushing it up.
