Quite possibly. On the other hand, it looks like enough cracks are growing around Putin and he seems fairly frail. That all makes it very feasible for him to die suddenly without it having to be assumed as an assassination. I wouldn’t be surprised if he dies in the very near future and there's some kind of a withdrawal.
