11. Oklahoma State (12-2)
Points: 859. Previous ranking: 7. Opens: Sept. 1 vs. Central Michigan (FS1, 7).
The Cowboys are in great shape if experience at quarterback can guarantee a successful season. Spencer Sanders is back for his fourth year as the team’s starting quarterback. WR Brennan Presley should emerge as his top target. The offense does need someone to step forward at running back. The biggest concerns, however, are on defense with coordinator Jim Knowles off to Ohio State and Derek Mason replacing him. The core of last year’s outstanding unit is gone and there will be growing pains. Collin Oliver had a fantastic freshman season and should be a pass-rushing threat along with Brock Martin. But the secondary needs rebuilding to produce another run at the conference title game.

Not even close. Texas has fallen on hard times but does have a claim to being a top shelf football program.

23 ten win seasons and 4 national titles since 1960.

A&M is way way behind in many categories. And yet is still hyped as some football powerhouse. It’s weird.
Oh, it’s close. Although aTM gets hyped as a powerhouse program, they aren’t as consistently hyped as a national title contender nearly as much as UT. This guy breaks it down.

Yes, all-time UT is actually #11 most underrated (we are #18). But that is since 1936. BTW - OU is the 5th most overrated of all time. How’s that?

More recently, OU was the most overrated last decade (2010-2019).

2000-2009 it was Virginia Tech, but UT was #2.

1990-1999 it was aTm.

Sooooo... actually talking about OSU.

I'm pleasantly surprised by this ranking. I was honestly expecting us to land somewhere in the 20-25 region. Nice to get some respect.

Really feels like Mike Gundy has turned a corner with us being rated so high after such a successful last season. I know I am really looking forward to it. I personally think we should hang our hats on defense again like we did last season and then let QB Sanders take over on offense. Last season was a lot of fun to watch both ways.
