For the 13th time in program history, the Cowgirls are going dancing.

Oklahoma State’s soccer team was awarded the 10th overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, it was announced Monday. The seeding gives the Cowgirls a First-Round bye, and they will play the winner of Colorado and South Alabama in the Second Round on April 30.

“We’re really excited to be back in the postseason,” OSU coach Colin Carmichael said. “Like all teams, our players have sacrificed a lot to earn this opportunity, and I’m really proud of them. The uniqueness of this year has presented a lot of challenges, and our team has stepped up and handled things extremely well to put us in this position.

“We’re looking forward to a great tournament and are thrilled to get the chance to keep playing as long as we can.”

It’s been a unique soccer season because of COVID. The Cowgirls played their Big 12 schedule in the fall, where they finished third in the league. OSU then played a seven-game spring schedule that started Feb. 28.

In all, the Cowgirls are 12-3-1 this school year, having won nine of their past 10 games.

Sophomore Olyvia Dowell and junior Grace Yochum each have 10 goals this season, so that tandem has combined for 20 of the Cowgirls’ 30 goals.

The furthest the Cowgirls have ever made it in the NCAA Tournament has been the Elite Eight, doing so in 2010 and 2011. To match that performance this year, the Cowgirls would have to win two games. The big dog in their quadrant of the bracket is No. 2 overall seed North Carolina, a team OSU wouldn’t meet until the Elite Eight.

Here is the full bracket.
