The story is about OAN is dependent on AT&T, which is not new information. Why are you saying they are “busted”? (Assume because they are low on money?)

MSNBC — backed and owned by Comcast/NBC/Universal
Fox News - backed and owned by Fox
CNN - was owned by Time Warner. AT&T wanted to protect themselves from costs and helped start an independent company, OAN, but doesn’t need them anymore since they bought and now own CNN.

I know how all this works. I watched both seasons of Succession.

As soon as people understand that "media" outlets are a business, and not the conveyer of "truth and factual news," the quicker people will stop the fascination of said media outlets.

A Saudi prince owns a minority share of Twenty-First Century Fox, the parent corporation of Fox News, via an investment firm. Doh! See how silly all of this nonsense is? Let's stop worshipping media.

For the one good thing iPhone/iPad/tablet technology provides (rapid access/efficiency), it adds two bad things (social media access + expectations for more stuff to be accomplished in a quicker amount of time).

This website takes the top 7-10 stories from every single major msm provider around the western world. Just by glancing at this you can see which orgs just copy each other and see a story evolve. Some have paywall but with the title you can find the local story for free. Follow this for awhile and you’ll see how the “news” is being custom tailored to be spoon fed to each of us.
Warning. You start using that link you will become disgruntled at how they are attempting to use your own emotions against you.

I should add, overtime, depending on which party controls the White House, the amount of fear pumped out by the opposing fringe media is insanity. Notice how the death counter from COVID disappeared when Joe took over. Now, it’s all about how the hospitals are trying to kill you. And the administration wants all the Rs dead.

Worst part is, those digesting this don’t have the wherewithal to realize it for what it is. Total BS. The cycle gets worse and worse until action is demanded and then it starts anew.

Can we all at least acknowledge that the term "Main Stream Media" is meaningless at this point? There is no such thing as "main stream media" in today's world.

Outlets like OAN, Newsmax, Breitbart, etc. are every bit as "Main Stream" for about half of the population at this point as CNN, NBC, etc. is "Main Stream" for about the other half of the population.

In today's information technology age, the entire media stream is segmented and everyone ends up picking whatever stream of media confirms whatever bias they may have and want confirmed. The media companies know this and fashion their reporting to attract whatever group they're hoping to catch.

They're all guilty of it. Hell, some companies (as indicated here) are releasing media from different outlets with different reporting to attempt to get all the market.

Do you put the AP in this grouping?

I had the same thought. Everyone has a personal stream curated by an algorithm that reinforces their established taste/beliefs. It’s not even a single-source stream. People are seeing what Facebook, Twitter, or a 3rd party news app pushes to them.

Millions of echo chambers creating alternate universes in the minds of consumers.

What could go wrong?

No chance for echo chamber if someone like Facebook cuts off access to all "news" sites.
This happened to Australia back in March.
