Yeah, the 6900xt appears to beat the 3090 hands down. the 6800xt is what I am aiming for also, it is on par or slightly beats the 3080 for $649, plus the new sync tech for 5000 series processors could give it another 13% performance.

As long as this is more than a paper launch, it is awesome.
and power consumption seems more reasonable.
Still want to see independent benches. The "smart memory access + Rage mode" numbers are useless.

I plan to wait in line on Nov 18th for the 6800xt. Hopefully it pays off!
I'm not going to wait in line. I will probably wait a bit. Nvidia will counter with something. Personally, I expect game bundles to hit Nvidia first, then AMD. I will probably wait for that (and independent benchmarks).

@ramases2112 how is your 3080 treating you?
Its amazing. Im still running it on my old board with my 6700k cpu so once I get my hands on a 5900x and get it installed with my x570 board, I will really see power from 3080. Currently Im bottlenecked because of my cpu. I will point out that if anyone does get a new 30 series card, look into immediately underclocking it. Same performance for nearly a 10 degree celsius difference.

That sounds pretty cool, I have not underclocked a video card yet. Was it a process to do that?

I may have gotten my hands on a 5900x this morning. Got the confirmation email and everything. Now I wait to see if they ship it.

Super easy to do. Before this i had no idea how to do. I knew how to overclock but there is a slightly different process to it. MSI Afterburner is the easiest way to do it and you can follow along on a YouTube video.

Appears to be a paper launch after all. There are rumors that the aib launch will be a big one in a week however.

At least i got my 5950x.

I'm not sure if paper launch, because nvidia crapped the bed with their launch, there was NO way AMD was going to have reasonable supply to satiate the demand for their products and the lack of Nvidia products. Think about the people who sold their 2080Ti's in the hopes of getting 3080 which had nearly zero availability. now all those people plus AMDFanbois are trying to get these things. High end launches are hard, but Nvidia did something screwy as they still have very limited availability here over a month after launch.

I do think I am going to hold out to see what the custom market looks like. Frankly, i would like to see a 2 slot 6800xt instead of the 2.5 slot.

That is a good point. From what I have read, AMD only had a few reference models and won't really offer much of those moving forward. They are in favor of the AIB's taking things and running with them.

Hopefully I can snag a Sapphire or PowerColor 6800xt card in the coming weeks.
