The O'Colly says a new stadium is in the works to the tune of between $25-$30M. I'm all for building on the momentum that Coach Gajewski has built. I think it's a great time for it.

I think the plan is to use Allie P. until the new stadium is built.

I do wonder however, with Holder trying to raise money for a wrestling facility which he once thought might cost around $40M, can we raise money for both at the same time. I hope we can and will.

You would think they would just tear down Allie P and use that site since there is more room.
According to Coach G., they will tear down the current stadium and start from scratch, making it a mini O'Brate. He doesn't want to leave the current location and the area under Allie P., my guess is wanted badly for Bennett parking.

Well, even leaving much of AP site for additional parking would still provide softball the flexibility to expand and modernize. Should be nice, I’m happy for ‘em if it materializes.

I'm not too worried about Gajewski leaving for ou. He's from California and so didn't grow up being an ou fan. He went to junior college and so was only at ou for a couple years.

If built, it will be his baby with a program he built himself. It's his program and not one handed to him. He has already been at OSU longer than he was at ou.

I’m plenty worried. First, he’s an OU grad, so there’s that tie. Second, he played on their ‘94 NC team, another tie. Third, and just as important, unless Boone has a secret stash of cash set aside in his estate for coach hiring/retention, OU could provide the financial incentive.

What does he and Gasso make in comparison?

Four-time national championship coach Patty Gasso had her contract extended through 2024, increasing her salary from $496,499 — according to Oklahoma Watch for the fiscal year of 2017 — to $750,000.

Her stay bonus, which is given annually for each year she remains at OU, is increasing from $25,000 to $200,000. Gasso has been at Oklahoma since 1995, winning national championshipis in 2000, 2013, 2016 and 2017.

The stay bonus brings Gasso's annual salary to $950,000, the highest in college softball, underscoring the school's commitment to the program.

This includes talent and personal services. Good through 2022 unless I missed another extension.
Here is the breakdown of his full salary, from O’Colly

2017-18: $167,500
2018-19: $175,875
2019-20: $184,669
2020-21: $193,902
2021-22: $203,597

That’s a total of just over $925,000 for the five-year contract.

If Patty retires...I see OU hire within and replace her with her son.

I could be wrong on this...I heard when Texas head coaching position opened up, Coach G was their first option. He refused to stay here in Stillwater.

I have never understood how a wrestling facility can cost $40mm......What are we putting in there, gold plated weights and mats?

Coach G is bringing talent to stillwater with a stadium like that. The girls come to play for him. Imagine us getting this stadium while he is here.

A wrestling training center would cost that much because Holder wants Smith to have the best. Smith needs the best facility because momentum has moved up east. To counter that, we need to continue to recruit the way we have the last few years. With the U.S. training center up at Penn State, we already are behind the 8 ball.
