Eckroat has lost five straight holes to go from 2-up to 3-down.

Gupta had a brief swing but has fallen again.

This is not the way we need things to pan out

Gupta has a long putt has to make it and high smith has to miss a relatively short one. Very likely over

Obviously it’s disappointing for the team, but this format makes it exceedingly challenging for any team to consistently win titles. No shame, but it will hurt given how well they had been playing.

Match play is really cool and exciting. Except when your team isn’t even competitive like our last two losses. It’s really boring and kind of awful to watch.

Sort of agree, though we put up a hell of a fight those last few holes. Pepperdine just couldn't miss when it counted.

Sucks that we've missed out on 2 (3?) titles with the move to match play, but overall, it makes for a much more exciting event. Now we have the opportunity to be in an 8 team tournament for a natty virtually every year, and I think eventually things are going to even out and we'll win a few in years we shouldn't.

With stroke play only, there is no real excitement at any point and you can be out of the running for the title before day 3 if everything goes against you.
