“I’ll be damn if we spent $20 million on Trubisky to name him QB2”
What a dilemma, as Rudolph is having a great camp and Trubisky is under performing. Rudolph is in a no win spot and is stuck if Steelers don’t trade him. He probably would have been let go already if other QB Haskins hadn’t died.

The Steelers are hoping to trade Rudolph prior to season start so they are pumping him up now. QB’s always go down first part of season. Hopefully when a qb like Brady or Rodgers goes down Mason will get traded.
This is the strong opinion of a lot of Steelers fans. But the facts surrounding his contract make that very very unlikely. Mainly, the Steelers aren’t going to pay him north of 4 million this season unless they want him in that QB room. No one is going to give up assets for a QB with minimal starting experience in an expiring deal. They would wait for the Steelers to release him and get him on their own terms if they believe it’s simply pumping up. And finally, no team is giving any QB they aren’t serious about as many reps as Mason is getting when they don’t have a returning starter.

Steelers released depth chart today and Rudolph is QB2 behind Trubisky at QB1 and Pickett is QB3.
Might be for the best. I don’t think the Steeler fans would give MR a fair shake as the #1 coming out of the preseason. Let Mitch have it and when he inevitably struggles MR will get much more of a benefit of the doubt when his chance comes.

His base pay is actually less than Mason’s. If he doesn’t Hit certain milestones he is like 200k less. So that’s really not a concern.
Except for the $5.25 MM signing bonus that is bigger than Rudolph’s entire 1 year contract. Base pay is basically meaningless anymore, it’s all about incentives, signing bonus and voidable years. That’s how Teams game the Cap system

Mason’s cap hit is only $1M less…and that’s only because they attached 1/2 of his signing bonus to last season(half of Turbinski is on next years cap though) Either way, it’s not enough of a difference for it to come into play, especially for a normally well run franchise like Pittsburgh.

I suspect Mitch will be the starter Week one, but this has been the story of his career, Training camp leader…really really poor decisions and play in games and he’ll find the bench.

If he can’t beat out Trubisky, time to one on.

Likely on a different roster next season. I do think he’ll get his chance this season…just have to wait for Trubisky to throw 3 int’s in the first half.
Hope so. I think Pitt has moved on as an org, it was inevitable behind Rothlisberger. It was a no win exacerbated by personnel issues.

Mason balled out in the first half. Had a couple bad decisions, but played extremely well.

Steelers trash boo’ed him after he was blind-sided by a missed block.

Warren balled out too.

Everyone loves Pickett and cheering for him. Drew Locke may be the best QB on the field. The fans are booing Rudolph despite his great play. Rudolph needs to go to the Jets since Wilson is out for the season.

Is there a new development with Wilson. All the reports say 2-4 weeks?

Pickett 13-15 for two TD and looking and sounding like he just won the job. They interviewed Trubisky and Pickett and said they would interview Rudolph after the break but did not happen.

One of the Steelers analyst saying they will keep all three QB’s this year. Watching Pickett he likes to run and most of these running QB’s tend to have short careers due to injuries so they will need healthy back up QB’s.
