Annnnnd this is why no changes will be made any time soon, I’m willing to bet at least half of our fan base is “ok” with beating Tulsa, losing to Texas and OU but making a worthless bowl game just because they are afraid we will fall back into the 90s coming off probation playing in a high school stadium. Rinse and repeat next year.
1. No one wants to lose any games.
2. No bowls are "worthless" they give you an entire month of extra practice, money, and fun for your team and fans.
3. We will fall back to even less consistent IF we do not look to make positive changes in limits to gray shirting and the numbers of team allowed in the College football final.
4. Coaching is indeed a part of that...but it's lazy and silly to think that is all it is (i.e. it being our football problems)

So you are saying poor coaching has not been the major component in our two losses, or are you saying its never the coach's fault the player needs to make the play? Those are lazy points

The Texas game was 100% on turnovers by the players...the ou game was ou being way better than us this year without an O-line...Gundy, having a spine, kicked three starters on the O-line off the freaking team for trying to spread covid. Yep, that's the coach I want leading the program I enjoy...but, I'm not 100% ONLY about winning on the field of play. I guess I'm still so old fashion that I think winning on the field of life is FAR more important. We have had conference high APR's and Academic All Americans all over the field. That's very important to me in terms of evaluating a college football program. We have become a very well balanced and consistent program in that regard. That and our record over this tenure have been a huge success. It's going to take some luck, but we are still in the hunt for the Championship game even...Win the next two and let the chips fall where they may...the only reason we are in this position is the Texas game and turnovers...we weren't beating ou on it's current roll. Losing to Texas was inexcusable and I was all over Gundy about QB choices...looks like I might have been wrong on that one..at least for now. Sanders had a nice game today.

Amen Rack. I try to be a realist about what OSU sports can be. Stillwater ain't South Bend, Tuscaloosa. or Clemson. I am with Boone, who said he wanted us to be competitive. Would I like to beat OU more, sure. I am more than old. I qualify as an ancient, but that brings some wisdom that some of the high testosterone posters lack. A hell of a lot more programs have digressed by impatiently firing winning coaches than have emerged at a new level.

Everyone of your top ten wins listed wound up sucking by the end of the season except Stanford. Most of them were very suspect

All those wins...yet 1 championship to show for it!!! Further illustrates we play for bowl games, not championships!! #cowboyculture
Can't win championships if you don't build traditions, make bowls and win them. Yet we have "competed: for championships about 1/3rd the time in Gundy's tenure.

IMO, the program is on a pretty big plateau that it likely won't be moving off of anytime soon. The major facilities are now in place, the head coach has a comfy auto-extending contract, season ticket sales can be practically predicted within +/- 5,000 seats, and we're a perennial 8+ win program (in "normal" years). We likely will never rise to the ranks of a 'blue blood', but the program is nationally-known and decently-respected as a perennial top-20 team.

Gundy gained a reputation early in his head coaching tenure as a 'gun slinger' and we enjoyed often exceeding expectations and winning games that we weren't "supposed to". The program was most definitely a team on the rise. Maybe its just hazy memory, but it seems to me that something changed within a few years after the 2011 season. The approach and general team attitude changed. The "hunger" subsided and got replaced with a robotic, formulaic system ("The Culture").

As for how the team finishes this season? On the outside looking in - like most years. "It is what it is"....and whatnot...

When you win like we did in 2011 you expect more...the deal is that we won more after 2011 than we did prior...just feels like we did not.

Gundy tenure pre 2011 includes Only one 10 plus win season in 2010 with 11 wins...after it it we have had four 10 win seasons so far.

Sounds like excuses to me but go on.......again we compete for bowl games, not championships. Don't think 1/3rd is accurate but sure...if you're good with bowl games...that's your choice. Others would like to win championship, and we washed our opportunities. Bowl games are the expectations for the program anyway..

College football is an oligarchy. OSU should have played for a NC in 2011, but didn't' get 'invited'.

You might not be cut out to be a fan of a school like OSU. Just pick Bama or OU or Notre Dame and go be a fan of those teams. They can lose a game and still get 'invited'.
While you're at it, become a Yankees and Lakers fan. Just pick the biggest budget teams in every sport and be a fan of those teams.

"We'll never beat any top 10 teams."
Rack lists 9 top team teams we've beat.
"Those don't count because I don't personally think those teams are good."

Again...we WON today.

No matter what happens on Saturdays, some of you guys insist on being miserable. Cheer up, amigos. Only three football games left and then you can go back to being unhappy about other stuff.

Gundy is running a jh level offense, you can't win with that
When is the last time you posted anything positive? I’m fine with critique, but it feels like you’ve had a steady stream of negativity for a while. Try painting with Bob Ross or eating the piss-free variety of Cheerios for a change. Maybe the Whos in Whoville will help your heart grow 10x.

:)

Edit: apparently monkeys think alike.

We have competed for the championship in 7 years of Gundy's teams...not counting this year...that's actually more than 1/3rd of the time. Certainly while we have had opportunities, we have only gotten over the hump once. This is the ou problem...it's what holds us back, not simply coaching.
