Fixing the American National Unity problem

I'm starting this thread because I think this is the biggest real issue in America...the two parties have taken advantage of triggering us against each other when mostly on most things we agree...the difference only come on how to fix the problems not that they are problems...

I would absolutely love to hear ideas on how to fix our unity problem...not only politically, but even with each other on this board.

topics like the two-party system, the marriage of our capitalism and our socialism, failures to compromise, and politically created fire storms are all fair game.

I’ve long been a massive Stossel fan …didn’t’ t really know much about Dave Rubin ….but I am now a fan of his as well. I wish I could be as eloquent as those two.

Ok, how about this. We are clearly never going to agree on all issues. But, we can make points for thought and not for gotcha. I will try to respond to you only in the sense of "hey, consider this" if you do the same and not feel like every point has to be bashed away because it is disagreement. Because, at this point, when I see you have responded to a post of mine (minus stossel vids) I'm pretty sure it is going to feel like a condescending slam and not an honest discussion. I would guess you feel similar.

If I see something you post that I would like you to just consider a different but reasonable point, I'll respond. If it is a gotcha on a small point, a slam or whatever, I won't. I hope you will agree.

That is exactly what has happened.

The dems were the working class and the poor. The working class has been eaten by the republicans. The repulbicans were the educated and the upper middle/rich. But the educated have been eaten by the dems.


And while I agree with nearly all of this video, it is a bit slanted. For example, sure the left demagogues the Koch brothers. Well, what about George Soros? Neither side is perfect, I think an honest look would show many of these tendencies of the left also occur on the right in a similar but different manner.

Bills introduced in congress are weighed good/bad pending on the author and the (R/D) next to their name instead on the content of bills. Only after a bill is passed/failed will the author(s) be revealed. The Q/A on a bill will be done via written message - orally read if needed by a hired reader, not a representative.

And as noted by comments above, things written on this board are judged by who wrote them, not what they wrote.

But in the long run being divided will never end, unless we are united by some big tragedy (WWIII) which means we are still divided, just on a larger scale.
