How you liking Ice’s shooting so far? Not trying to be a jerk, I just know you weren’t sold after the televised practices. Already made as many 3’s as he did last year.
He's definitely made timely 3's in all 3 games. 3-5 is a small sample size. 5-9 is not good from FT to determine shooting stroke, but again, small sample size.

I am encouraged that he can keep making a 3 here or there for us. I believe his FT stroke will be better than 55%. I think these timely 3's can help his confidence which can be half the battle.

I couple of thoughts from the realist in me, and don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the guys and loved the overall result last night.

--not every team will shoot as poorly as Marquette did. We have to play better man to man defense because we'll need to in conference.

--turnovers will cause us to lose a game we shouldn't unless they get that under control, which, I think they will as they get more experience.

--OSU basketball was in almost the same spot a year ago as it is now (except more games under their belt): lots of excitement about a team that was undefeated. The next 4-6 weeks will tell us what kind of team this is.

--but, I think we'll keep improving because this team is ridiculously athletic and even though there are a lot of mistakes being made, I think in some of the newcomers you see a lit bit more of a basketball IQ than we've had in the past.

After the next 3 non-conference games, three of the first four Big 12 games are against ranked opponents, so it's going to get real very quick.
Maybe Ice won’t get mono this year.

I can't decide if Marquette's guards were that bad or our zone caused that much disruption. Zones/Presses can cause more problems early in the year because it might be that team's first encounter with that defense. Players gave great effort in the zone flying around and being disruptive with their hands.

AA has covid or contact traced? Interested how quickly we get him back. We did have Bryce Williams handling it some, and he didn't look comfortable handling the ball, although he looks more comfortable and more athletic than Flavors. Definitely a better defender than Flavors.

First game Cade looked human. Scout was out on him that he will put his shoulder down and bulldoze to the goal. Marquette was ready for that. It took til the second half when Cade adjusted and utilized some nice footwork when attacking the glass.

Ice was more assertive as Cade got in foul trouble. He's still really hard to stop in transition. Ice and Cade kicking ahead to each other is a problem for the opponent. But this Walker kid....I like him. MAM as well even though he missed a lot around the goal (was sped up just a bit and those Marquette boys were big).

We need the Boone twins to keep coming. Kalib's lack of effort and physicality in the first 3 games has been very disappointing. It's like where he was at the start of last year. We need the last 10 games Kalib and our team will keep getting a lot better. Keylan is playing super hard, just not making any 3's right now.
I think it’s safe to assume that Harris had Covid and AA was contact tracing seeing that if it was AA then the whole team would of likely been out from Saturday’s game.

Ice was airballing those shots, and looked really stiff shooting last season, but actually looks pretty smooth and sweet this season. He may not continue shooting at this pace, but his shot already looks so much better.

I disagree about the team being in the same spot a year ago, I would say the level of talent has increased by quite a bit, last year there were 6-7 players that were consistently contributing and I think this year you add 1 to 3 more. The advantage of last years team was maturity and continuity. This years team is more athletic and talented, IMO.

They are FUN to watch!! If they can get the freshman jitters out and play whole games the way they played that 1st half 20+ point run, they are going to be a tough out. The defense is starting to look really good. I am also seeing signs (despite what others say) that Coach Boynton is becoming a good in-game coach. He made some good adjustments yesterday. Before you start comparing him to Eddie, there aren't more than 10-12 other coaches in college basketball history that were or are as good an in-game coach as Eddie. For a 38 year old coach, he obviously has become an elite recruiter and I believe it's a matter of time before we say the same thing about the quality of his coaching!

While I don't know much about that competition this year, they looked really good and under control most of the night last night after they got settled in...sure didn't look good in the first five minutes and we can't pull that on KU and BU...but I like this team. Nice job.

Please stop calling MB an elite recruiter, yes Cade Cunningham signed and we all know why. I do think Walker and MAM are try top 100 kids. If MB can string together top 10-15 classes every year I’ll go along with the elite recruiter. MB has been a part of 5 OSU recruiting classes and the majority of his guys have left or been average at best. I’m hopeful this year is the beginning of OSU basketball becoming relevant once again.

The big question mark for me coming into the season was how well will we shoot the three. If we can do it effectively it opens the floor up and our offense will come more easily. I know it is a small sample size, but it looks like we will have enough shooters that will be able to hit a high enough percentage that will require the defense to play us straight up. Williams, Walker, Cade, and Flavors seem to be capable shooters. If Ice, Keylan, and Anderson can just shoot an average percentage as well I think our 3 point shooting will be enough of a weapon to allow Cade, Ice and Anderson to slash to the basket without having to deal with a myriad of defenders.

I was about to say this same thing. Pretty much what sidelined us is when I got mono and wasn't able to come back for pretty much 2 months.

Here’s the highlights for those who missed it:
https://youtu.be/io_PGUYQzUI
So since I had the game muted and was listening to Dave last night I didn't get to hear the crap but oh my gosh those announcers were not great and the din of that weird background noise that sounded more like a sleep white noise maker than crowd noise.

Two years, several lbs, a little more junkyard dog and he’s Tony Allen as a better scorer. I’m certainly biased, but he’s an even better kid than he is a ball player.
He has some of that in his movement and aggressiveness. Obviously has a better stroke. They don't make many like TA. But he has some TA in him in that he seems fearless when he plays.
