Kudos for Biden. But I don’t hold out hope the media will cease with shocking headlines and stories leaving out important facts.

So, I'm posting again, I'm hopeful that those that are ill recover and those that haven't gotten the shot will now get it. It's safe and effective from personal experience.

Have a great and Covid free day!

Stupid about AGW!!
My mom is in ER waiting for a bed in Okmulgee County. She said the ER is full of Covid patients. She said they are out of beds and have been told that there are no beds available in OKC or Tulsa. They did find a bed for 1 person in Colorado and they asked for any volunteers that wanted that bed. A guy volunteered and they were taking him by ambulance to Tulsa airport to airlift him to Colorado

Brutal situation. I'm sorry. Here's to hoping for a full and speedy recovery.

God bless her and them Binman. I refuse to let my doubts about the efficacy of masks and shots to allow me to be a danger to my family and my students. It is a weird feeling that I have about it, but ultimately I err on the side of protecting them.

My wife is in quarantine right now. She works in home health as an HTS and 1 of her clients tested positive on the way back from a trip out of state. She's terrified. She was out of town a week, which is really hard on us but especially my 15yr old Autistic daughter that depends on her for everything. I try, but she won't let me be what my wife is. So we have another week to wait and pray. I miss my wife so much.

The client had her shots. So has my wife and her coworker. So have I and the rest of our girls. That doesn't eliminate fear. I know Stillwater is packed. I know she's scared and I cannot comfort her the ways I am good at.

We have to stop allowing this crap to be over-politicized. I don't have a political side in this. I love my wife. That's what I know.

With all the crazy, scary misinfo and total falsehoods going out about the covid vaccines, I'm not surprised if a lot of people refuse to get vaccinated and will take their chances that they won't need to go to the hospital when they come down sick. The media seems to be ignoring the crazy stuff rather than spend time debunking it. On CNN, it doesn't need to be all covid, covid, covid all the time. Instead, it needs to be about debunk, debunk debunk all the time.

It's not the unvaccinated people that need to be accounted for. It's the people putting out all this crap against the vaccines. I hope they can be subjected to civil lawsuits.

Wonder about the accuracy of these numbers but it would paint a fully different picture for vaccinated people than what the media is feeding you.

What media are you referring to? I watch ABC World News every night and have found that 30 minutes to pretty much be the best as far as just presenting the news. Most every week night they have Dr Ashish Jha on and he has been pounding the same issue you posted above that yes Dleta is bad but if you are vaccinated and not immune system compromised, the vaccines will keep you out of the hospital and prevent death. He actually says he is encouraged by the news about vaccines doing what they were intended to do.

Fauci said the same thing this morning and I’ve seen several stories by the AP making the same claims.

Sure there delta doom and gloom exists on some networks too much of the time but not all media is doing this

Apparently there’s plenty of media pushing the fear tactics for ratings. You watch CNN for a few minutes and you’ll get your fair dose of it. These same liberal news outlets are calling for mask mandates for vaccinated people as well.

Good for the Biden administration. I don't follow traditional media that much but if you have news organizations spreading fear porn for the sake of ratings that needs to stop.

Right wing media did that 6 months ago with their election coverage and if left wing media is doing it now over this then they need to stop.

The delta variant is bad. The way right wing media has pivoted on vaccination proves that. But it does no good for either side to feed their viewers bs for ratings at the expense of real honest news.

Already happened in Houston and was upheld. This is a pretty well worn issue for medical facilities and other places where close contact work is required (like many schools).
I’m thinking of places like google. I don’t see how with as many laws as we have against discrimination in the workplace all of a sudden now an employer can create their own rules for discrimination and it stands up in court.

Flip side is almost every company in this country has a help wanted sign on the door. They can’t find employees the way it is. We just returned from vacation and almost every business we went in had a sign on the front door stating they are short on staff. I even saw a billboard for a fast food company advertising starting wages at $17/hr. If jobs cannot be filled now how are they going to be filled with vaccination rules?

As long as they have an argument that it's important for the safety of employees and allow reasonable exceptions, which can include alternate work assignments, they'll be fine. Having worked in medical and educational settings, vaccine requirements have been common and relatively uncontroversial. The last time I even took a postdoctoral course at a med school (keep in mind, this involved zero patient contact for that school), I still had to not only get updated vaccines and a TB test, but demonstrate sufficient antibodies from multiple other vaccines. That school has a pretty solid policy that if you don't get vaccinated against a ton of things (or haven't had them previously), you cannot see patients or physically set foot in a classroom.

I can't speak to the other practical issues of hiring.
