Hope we land this kid next. We are in his top 6 and he’s aau teammates with Garrison and I think they visited Stillwater at the same time. He’s long and pretty skilled!

It's a huge domino to fall getting Garrison. Now coach can build a team around him from this early on. He has all the accolades, team USA gold medalist, #1 player in the state of Oklahoma, etc. etc.. Getting him this early is super beneficial for us.

Is there any inside info on Castillo? I haven’t heard a thing about him recruitment wise. I know we were first and I know he is elite. Just wasn’t sure if there are any connections or visits he’s taken or if there’s any inklings what he wants to do?

No inside info, just an update: Castillo scored 12 points yesterday in the US men's gold medal win over the host team Spain in the FIBA U17 World Cup. He was also a member of the gold medal-winning U16 team last year. His USA Basketball bio lists him as ESPN's number 9 overall prospect in the '24 class.

Hopefully this is a big recruiting cycle for us. Thinking back over the years, it’s always much easier to win games when you have a sure fire guard on your team (1st team all conference caliber) we’ve had a lot of them over recent years (James Anderson, Juwan Evans, Marcus Smart, Cade Cunningham, I would even go Jeffrey Carrol as an upperclassmen.) Boynton has gotten one of them (Cade) and I think we have 2 on campus (Avery and Bryce) that have the potential to be that guy(s), but haven’t proved it yet. We have to have at least one going forward every season as well.

Agreed. With 7 seniors (actually 5 & 2 grads) and 5 juniors on the roster being supported with a single incoming freshman, the next 2 years damnwell better be big cycles. And two of those juniors (Bryce and Cisse) could realistically go pro after the end of the upcoming year which would leave us with 9 outgoing scholarships.

Further, for a balanced roster, I think it would not be wise decision to have such a large class of freshman in a single year. I'm very interested to watch what happens in these next few classes.

Probably a dumb question, but I've seen alot of this 'reclassifying' lately with recruits. What exactly does that mean? They've already gotten enough credits to graduate HS?

A lot of these kids waited to start high school basketball a year late, or they were planning to do a post grad year of prep school. So many of them have the ability to reclassify, graduate now, and be available for next season.
