Which is why I said there are exceptions, I’m not sure why we would want to be seeded in a regional in our conference or in Arkansas just because they are close?
We wouldn't

Thats 4 out of 16 Regionals

The way it worked out, we are forced to travel AND got a loaded Regional.

We will in with 2 teams that are both located in Arizona.

Grand Canyon is right at 2 hours from the Campus of Arizona University.

We are 14 hours from Tucson which is not doable for anyone other than a handful of parents.

UCSB is 8 hours from Tucson but doable for fans that wanted to drive out.

We are the team that has to travel by almost double in that Regional and we are the 2 seed.

No....We'll have to use a lot of pitching just to get to Arizona.

Beating Arizona twice, after having to use as much pitching to beat the other 2 is up against the odds for sure.

This Regional makes going through the losers bracket more likely than other Regionals would and substantially more difficult for us to navigate if it happens.

I was hoping for a less bottom heavy Regional where we could be all guns to beat the #1 seed twice.
SMH! So, you're assuming the Cowboys lose game one and have to go through the loser's bracket to get to Arizona. Here's a little hint, if the Pokes win game one, and assuming Arizona takes care of their game one business, guess who we play in game two............................................. Arizona. So you must be assuming we lose that game because that's the only scenarios where we'd have to beat them twice in a row to advance. Love the defeatist attitude though. Win game one and game two and you only have to beat the host one more time to advance. CMA

No....to beat UCSB, we'll either have to throw Campbell or throw Scott and burn our best bullpen arms.

And we're having to travel to Arizona to do it which is 14 Hours away.

Maybe we come out and score a bunch on their #1 and that doesn't happen but the odds are not in that favor.

And...to answer your question....yes....Arizona has to be beat twice.....

Hopefully we are the team tasked with doing rhat.

Thats 4 out of 16 Regionals
Ok
Columbia SEC
Eugene
Gainesville SEC
Greenville
Knoxville SEC
Nasville SEC
Oxford SEC
Ruston
South Bend
Stanford
Starkville SEC
Tucson

They didn’t pair any SEC and Big Xii teams in the 1st round so that eliminates 10 out of the 16 Regionals. The 3 closest are Ruston, South Bend, and Tucson.
South Bend has 2 Michigan schools and Connecticut.
Ruston has New Jersey, Alabama, and a North Carolina school.
Tucson has Oklahoma, California, and Arizona.
Seems semi regional to me obviously it’s not perfect but pretty close .

The southwestern United States, also known as the American Southwest or simply the Southwest, is a geographic and cultural region of the United States that generally includes Arizona, New Mexico, and adjacent portions of California, Colorado, Nevada, Oklahoma, Texas, and Utah.

I don’t know what else to tell ya

This seems like a really wide open regional. We have a chance to win the regional at 3-0 or could go 0-2. I agree with some others who have said that we need to win the first 2 games to have a chance. Our pitching depth gives us very little chance to come through the loser's bracket (see yesterday's 4th game of the Big 12). Need to win the first 2 and go through the winner's bracket. Arizona is good offensively and that would be a real challenge in a 4th or 5th game of a regional.

The regional is balanced. Grand Canyon and UCSB both have legit aces so both Arizona and us will have their hands full in the opening game. If we can win the first, it helps us that the #1 seed doesn't have a weak #4 in the first game. It sounds like Arizona's park is a very offensive friendly park which hopefully benefits us against UCSB as we have better power numbers than they do. Arizona looks to draw relatively small crowds this year so I don't think the home field advantage will be what it would be at some of the places in the south.

All in all, this looks like a "fair" regional draw. It's definitely not easy but it's not unreasonably tough. If we play well, we've got a legit shot. If not, we won't win a regional anywhere playing poorly.

So we got ripped off because the #3 seed in our region isn't a total cupcake? That's a stretch

Mental gymnastics! Lol! What if Arizona loses twice? What if our game one starter does what a number 1 should do and goes deep in the game? Your whining about the bracket is ignorant and would play out in any regional we're a 2 seed in. Win your first two games in any regional and you're sitting in the driver's seat. And stop whining about the travel, someone had too. Would rather be there than Fayetteville or Rustin, it's only a 2 hour flight.

Okay
Power to you if you think having to face that kind of Regional and travel 1014 miles away from Stillwater to do it is a good draw for a #2 seed.

A #2 Seed that just beat Texas, and made the Finals of the Conference tournament of the #2 RPI league in College Baseball.

And is a team that is finally getting healthy, which, scoring according to Kyle Peterson this past weekend, could have played a factor in our seeding.

We were never going to be a 1 seed in a regional. We didn't play well enough at critical moments during conference play. Accept that and move on. And get on a damn plane, flights are cheap right now.
