Performance wise it looks really nice for an upgrade, sadly the price is much higher than most thought. Still will be getting the 5900x but damn that is a lot.
waiting for 5700x. Not currently announced but they have to replace the 3700x 8c/16t 65W chip.

I was aiming for the 5900x, but that is steep. I may play the waiting game to see if prices come down.
The way I see it is big upfront on a 5900x means longer I can go without an upgrade. If I can make this current gen last until like 2024 or longer then that price just isnt that bad. Only plan on gaming at 1440p so it should be alright for the foreseeable future.

AMD is executing on all cylinders, and independent testing shows that AMDs presentation numbers were pretty honest and on the mark (if not understated in some cases).
Based on this, I am probably going to try to grab 6800XT on launch day and risk not getting independent reviews first.

According to Gamers Nexus, the 5600x is the best bang for your buck when gaming. It beats the 10900k.
i hate the movement to tech youtube reviews. i liked the long form written ones. but yeah - the 5600x looks like the sweet spot. pretty much every processor released yesterday beats the top of the line intel processor.

I was a fan of HardOCP before it shutdown. thefpsreview has a lot of the previous HardOCP reviewers. So while a new site, that is where I like to read. Unfortunately, due to their "newness" they didnt get seeded by AMD prior to launch. The HardOCP writers there do get GPUs in a timely fashion though.

I'll have to check them out.

Loved to read hardOCP from time to time. I'm not a gamer but I'm in the tech realm and it still was a good choice for information.

from all chatter, don't expect to get 5K series at MSRP until Q1. This sounds like a real demand issue, rather than the supply issue of Nvidia.

Given how well the anti-bot/scalper mechanisms put in place for AMD products after Nvidia 3K series launch debacle have failed, I'm not holding my breath on getting a 6800XT this year. ugh. Its both a great time and a horrible time to be a PC gamer.

My online order ended up being cancelled, so it is going to be awhile before I can get a 5900x. It will probably be April before I get the 6800xt at this rate.
