Four people arrested on illegal weapons possession charges at hotel near Coors Field

Four people were arrested on illegal weapons possession charges at a Denver hotel just two blocks from Coors Field as All-Star Game festivities began this weekend.

Denver police arrested three men and one woman Friday night at the Maven Hotel after receiving a tip. The Denver Police Department also announced Saturday that evidence was recovered after search warrants were obtained for two rooms at the hotel, and two vehicles were impounded.

The police department has not announced details about the evidence, but local ABC affiliate Denver7, citing multiple law enforcement sources, reported Saturday that police discovered 16 long guns, body armor and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition from an eighth-floor hotel room that had a balcony overlooking Denver's downtown area.

Police executed the search warrants for the rooms after receiving the tip from a maid at the hotel, according to multiple reports.

Police say they found about a dozen firearms in Denver hotel close to site of MLB All-Star Game

Police found approximately 12 firearms and ecstasy pills, heroin, and methamphetamine, according to the police statement.
A ballistic vest and a law enforcement duty belt were found in a vehicle associated with the room, the probable cause statement says.

"It should be noted that this information was concerning to Officers due to the location of the rifle, ballistic vest, duty belt, and requesting a room with a balcony coupled with the fact that the 2021 Major League Baseball All-Star Game events happening in the immediate area of the hotel," police say in one probable cause statement. "There is a propensity for mass casualty incidents in scenarios such as the above where many people are gathered together in a small area for a single event."
The FBI's Denver office said it didn't think the incident was terror-related.
"We are not aware of any threat to the All-Star Game events, venues, players, or the community at this time," officials said.

Ricardo Rodriguez was charged with possession of a weapon by a previous offender. He told CNN affiliate KCNC that he never heard of any plans of shooting at the All-Star Game and that he "would have intervened, absolutely" if he had heard anything like that.
FBI officials in Denver have also said they have no reason to believe the incident is connected to a threat directed at the All-Star Game.

Article says police feared a vegas-style shooting, not that the group was planning a Vegas style shooting (of course i don't know what the ABC affiliate actually said
on air). A small distinction, but damn glad we didn't have to find out they really were.
