Big 12 Realignment thread, 2021 version

Agree. Honestly, the best thing that could happen to OSU is a Big 10 raid of the PAC 12 that takes some combination of USC, Oregon, and Washington, making a combination of the leftovers more appealing for the remaining PAC and Big 12 teams. Most industry experts think a Premier League type...

Big 12 Realignment thread, 2021 version

The problem is that that 80% doesn't matter anymore. What this round of realignment will be about is the flagship properties: Your USCs, Texas, Ohio State, and the like. Just because we match up well against mid tier or even high tier schools in those other conferences doesn't matter. It matters...

Big 12 Realignment thread, 2021 version

I don't think being a "very good athletics property" has anything to do with it. If you replaced that with "we have a lot of T-shirt fans", then you are talking about what matters in realignment. It's about eyeballs, not trophies.

Big 12 Realignment thread, 2021 version

Without conducting any research into the matter, I'd guess it's the number required to change the conference bylaws (except the GOR, which I think is a separate deal), so probably 75 percent of the members. Then it doesn't matter what the current bylaws say -- if enough people are leaving the...

    Stillwater Stars and TBT 2021

Forte has changed jobs, I think, three times this summer, from Sam Houston State, to UTRGV (briefly), to St. Louis (taking Ford Stuen's job). I don't know if that's the exact reason but I assume he needs some time to settle in.

    Men’s Golf NCAA championships

Ratings have gone up by infinity. There was never any live coverage until match play. Match play was how they enticed Golf Channel on board because they suggested it could be like the Ryder Cup. I don't think match play crowns a "true" champion but it definitely makes for more exciting viewing.

    Men’s Golf NCAA championships

Four. The field is cut to 15 teams after Sunday and then the eight match play teams are decided after play Monday. I believe quarters and semis are Tuesday and the championship match is Wednesday. The individual champion is determined after 72 holes conclude Monday.

    Consolidated Basketball Recruiting 2021

All the 247 Crystal Balls say Kentucky, but I never count Boynton out.

    Pokes in the Byron

The Oklahoma State Golf twitter account does a weekly preview of Pokes playing on the PGA and never includes Clark. So for what it's worth, they don't claim him (not that they need to to have a full portfolio).

    Big 12 Men's golf

Yeah, I should have clarified that I don't mean collectively. Eckroat will have Korn Ferry Tour status if he maintains his current spot in PGA Tour U rankings so he's probably going to join his roommate in the professional ranks (hope they keep their Stillwater pad). Though I'm no insider, I'd...

    Big 12 Men's golf

This group will win a few more trophies over the new few years, too. OU started all juniors and seniors today. Texas started three juniors and two sophomores. Oklahoma State ran out two freshmen, two sophomores, and a junior. Anything can happen with match play but they'll be in the mix at NCAAs...

    Sean Sutton?

There's not a position available right now and I'd guess they would hire back people like Hinson who have been working for free die to COVID. Maybe in the near future but, unless Sean is unemployed for a while, I doubt it. And that's before considering the other stuff that led.tl his departure.

    OSU golf wins

They also did it without Eckroat, who was playing at the PGA event in Texas (MC). They're getting hot at the right time.

    Basketball 2021/2022 - Potential Improvements

It's coaching malpractice if Boynton lets him stay. He cannot improve his draft stock further and, even with insurance, there's always the risk of catastrophic injury. Then you factor in that he's already a father and needs to take care of his family. Cade can help the program almost as much by...

    Mike Boynton Extension

I get the general fear. However, I do think Year 1 and Year 3 of the Boynton era were pretty good. Year 1 was a bad and obvious NCAA tourney snub, and they came on at the end of last year before everything was canceled. They would have been on the bubble with an upset over Kansas at the Big 12...

He cut him to try for the takedown since RBY had the point for riding time.

    2021 NCAA Wrestling Championship: Megathread!

Plott is definitely a guy that I'd put up there with Fix and Ferrari as the foundations of this team moving forward. I just worry about the long-term impact of a shoulder injury, though I'm far from an expert on how that will heal. Just hope he gets rested, gets whatever surgery he needs, and...

    2021 NCAA Wrestling Championship: Megathread!

Iowa's magic number is 127 and they're five points off of it with some finalist favorites. They will win. It'd be nice to get second but I think Penn State will lock that up tonight. Still, given a lot of projections had us outside the top five, they've had a good tournament. Just need to keep...

Men's Basketball Enoch Boakye 2022 maybe reclassify as 2021

It's hard to come back for games because the NBA season largely overlaps but Smart has definitely been back for an alumni weekend since Boynton has been the head coach. I would imagine Cade keeps closer ties with the program, especially as long as his brother is here.

    Hovland

He's so stupidly consistent. Here are his finishes since the beginning of the season (after U.S. Open): T12 T47 T15 Won T3 T31 T2 T6 T5 T2 So he's finished in the top 3 in 40 percent of his tournaments and finished in the top 20 in 70 percent of them. As was said earlier, if he didn't have the...
