This spike in new cases report and new deaths brings totals to

1,367 deaths. 59,804 infected
Deaths up by 242 and confirmed cases up by 14,000+ overnight

5,911 patients recovered and released from Hospitals
The massive increase in new cases is a big deal. At this rate even if it does not kill more than 4% of the infected (as some are saying), having that many infected and the progression is going to be a huge burden on China. I could see this quickly turning into a political and financial nightmare for them.

I think they are having to admit the cases and deaths are higher than they've been reporting and are gonna try to slow leak the numbers to lessen the impact.

Agree with this completely.

Has anyone seen any stats for people outside of China yet?

this. they are "changing" the way they report. I expect more "changes" to the way they report which will lead to more cases and deaths.

I think the deaths are a direct response to medical services being overwhelmed. If you can get decent medical service, you chance of surviving is pretty good. if you can't - you may be screwed.
