Anyone have any idea when AJ will be announcing where he is committing? Later this year or??
He's said he'll be making his decision in the September / October timeframe... bad news, he doesn't have a scheduled visit with us... good news, it doesn't seem like he's actually scheduling visits, per se. Or at least not making that public.

Edit... sorry @OSUCowboy787... While he isn't publicly announcing who he's visiting, we know for sure that he is taking visits, has a top 5, and has been on 4 of them already... Rutgers and Nebraska got him to visit for their respective Final Xs. Two weeks ago he visited Ohio State. Last weekend he visited Penn State. If I were a betting man, I would guess he will be in Stillwater next weekend for the KSU game and will announce shortly after.

So this is still my thought for future lineups for now... The only shakeups I could see would be to get a transfer that is a junior or senior to fill in at heavyweight to allow Doucet to redshirt.

Doucet is a really, really good wrestler who was kind of punished in ranking by bad timing and being a tweener at that 220 weight class (97kg). Ferrari and Braxton Amos are the only guys definitively better than he is... and he's actually pretty good from his feet and on top in folkstyle wrestling. If he is on a plan right now to put on some more muscle and good weight, I think he could absolutely start and at least qualify for NCAAs as a true freshman.

Of course, getting an experienced NCAA qualifier (or low AA) to transfer in for a year would help... because at the upper weights I think it is always best to redshirt guys to allow them another year of body maturity.

I'm not crazy about rolling Plott out as a true freshman either... but I don't think there's anybody at that weight that will be able to beat him out. Plott is a generational talent.

I'm glad we have a year of Geer to allow Ferrari to redshirt.

I think with the experience and talent on the 2021 roster, and with Iowa and Penn State both filtering out quite a bit of talent and experience after this season, that could be a year to circle where it's probably between the OSUs and Cornell to win a national title.

I think 2022 forward will be OSU as the favorite. Penn State and Ohio State will still be really freaking good. As will Cornell.

Wrestling is fun.

The recruiting rankings in the article Seth wrote on PFB show why we are finishing 3-10th the last decade. When you recruit the 4th best class a few yrs later you tend to finish around 4th. Daton is a world competitor so it’s awesome to pack some punch with Plott and AJ and possibly a dark horse like GFeller or Witcraft who could surprise some people someday. The parity in wrestling is much better now moving forward. I don’t think it’s good for the sport to not have a competitive Nationals.

Great job Seth and CT! Keep up the awesome articles, insider opinions, sunshine pumping posts! Thank you both!

Don't sleep on Travis Wittlake. I'm super excited to see what he does this season... I know I advocated him taking his Olympic Redshirt this season... But he is really, really good.
