I also hold the media to a higher standard, which is why I avoid cable news and most major news outlets like the plague. Real journalism is a lost art.

AOC is an economically illiterate member of the House. She is wrong on most things and only gets the coverage she does is because conservatives fixate on her.
On this we can agree.

As far as the coverage, that's not really a chicken & egg debate. The coverage started before conservatives even knew who she was. As someone with a journalism degree & whose spent a decade in the field, the coverage for her has been completely outsized since she was elected, with little to no pushback.

Do you remember her taking credit for killing the Amazon deal in NY? I do. 20,000 jobs, $30 billion in taxes w/a 10% break back to Amazon. She insisted the state could far better spend that $3 billion on other things. Problem is, they don't have the $3 billion now, nor the other $27 billion. That's simply being so stupid & idealistic that you can't even see the big picture.

Don't even get me started about her calling owning property 'privilege.'

I remember her torpedoing that deal, which was very short sighted. I personally am not a huge fan of the tax breaks to get a business in town game, but it is up to the people that live in that area to do what they want to do. It was a pretty dumb move on her part.

This is a fun article about some of those missteps: https://quillette.com/2019/03/22/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-does-not-know-much-about-economics/

When I was looking for that article, I found that the tweet that @WillhamSouth mentioned about tanking the economy to defeat Trump appears to be false. While it wouldn't surprise me if she did that, it is not true. Its good to know that there is an organization tracking deleted politician's tweets though.

Edit: it was actually @GodsPeace who mentioned the tweet, not @WillhamSouth . My bad.

Makes me think of the Mark Twain quote: 'A lie can travel halfway around the world, while the truth is putting on its' shoes.'

Not quite tweet-of-the-day material so I'll put this here.

Just show how large of blinders that he and others have. They just completely ignore the cost and the destruction from their breathern on the left. It baffles me that people defend the actions of the rioters. I actually read a quote from a community elected leader from Portland that said that we should ask why someone is throwing rocks at windows before we condemn the action.

Imagine a world in which right-wing protesters barricaded off 6 blocks of a major American city for weeks, culminating in the murder of multiple people including a black teenager.
Imagine if during the Obama years, a federal courthouse was beseiged by Republican arson attempts on a nightly basis for days on end.
You can’t imagine it. It’s too ludicrous.

Haha, I expect violence from the far left today, tomorrow, and on a election day. Whatever man. I keep hearing how the right will be upset if Trump loses. Worst that can happen is they take the same tactics the far-left has employed. I wonder if mass media would support those riots? Hypocrites.

A white supremacist made me do it. Heck of a defense.
I mean, I don't disagree with them that he was doing it to incite violence & chaos & he should face justice for his actions. Don't care what side someone is on, but those inciting deserve punishment.
Well, that's better than the conspiracy that he was a police officer.
He might have incited, but they all sure took off with it. And wasn't there already violence and looting going on before that?

The faux outrage and claims of 'marginalization are strong here. Twitter fight between a WNBA player & Andre Igoudola.

I've spent a lot of time around women's athletics over the years & am a big proponent of it. Having said that, I don't know of less self-sustaining, completely subsidized group in all of sports that has such an outsized opinion of itself. Total lack of self awareness that they live off the NBA tit & would be nowhere without them.

I read that story yesterday. I don’t understand why she felt slighted. Here is a former NBA All-Star giving her props to his 1.2M followers on Twitter and she complains. This shows that the victimization culture is so strong that some people need to feel victimized and to let others know they are victims.
People forget to assume positive intent.

Two women's institutions where marginalization is well deserved: U.S. Women's Soccer and the WNBA

Part of it is the culture of the sport. The ladies aren't any less egotistical or aggrandizing than the guys are. They just don't carry the weight and clout. In this era, you clout chase by engaging someone higher on the pole than you so you can garner some of their fame. The ladies are seemingly unaware that pissing of Igoudala or whomever won't win over fans that don't want to watch the game. Women's basketball just lacks the excitement of the mens game, imo. On skill, it is easily on par.
