Stupid about AGW!!
New rules for Legal Immigrants as their financial resources, health, education, skills, family status and age will now be a factor in getting a green card

This new rule is expected to impact ~ 384K legal immigrants seeking green cards living in the US right now

About time. I don't know if anyone realizes this but we are 20+ trillion in debt and have shanty towns springing up in California. It's not a question of what's right or what we should do. It's that we cannot afford to import poverty. Period.

This impacts ~380K people in the US. If the Federal Govt really wanted to do something real about Debt related to Federally funded Welfare programs it would rewrite the rules related to the ~47% of US households that receive direct Federal Welfare when there are able bodied people living off the gubment. This has very little impact on Welfare spending in the US as a whole and does very little to solve any debt issues related to Welfare.

It's a start, but you are correct, it don't go far enough.

Breitbart ran a big story saying it would save $60 billion per year in welfare spending......sounds good unless you consider Welfare spending is $1.2 TRILLIOn per year...it is 5% of yearly welfare spending and does NOTHING to address the additional 95% of Welfare spending
Definitely not enough but also infinitely better than doing nothing to address 100% of welfare spending which has been SOP in DC for a generation. This is low hanging fruit. Much (most?) of the other 95% of which you speak requires congressional action.
