My understanding of Article 5 is that it would require unanimous consent of the states to change the makeup of the Senate.

"and that no State, without its Consent, shall be deprived of its equal Suffrage in the Senate."

That's an interesting argument, Art. I confess that I am an economist and not a Constitutional lawyer. However, a Constitutional Amendment cannot be unconstitutional. So where does that leave us?
Fortunately, in this case, it will never get far enough that we will ever know.
