The HHS has confirmed that are going to be touring and looking at Fort Bliss, Dyess AFB, and Goodfellow AFB as potential sites to build tent cities to accommodate between 1,000 & 5,000 unaccompanied illegal immigrant children.

Since the Zero Tolerance policy announced by Jeff Sessions and Kristjen Nielsen of Homeland Security that all people crossing the border illegal must face criminal prosecution the number of illegal immigrant children held in Govt custody has increased by 20%...before this policy any children traveling illegally to the US were allowed to be turned over to their legal family members in the US while their parents went through immigration trials....however last year the US Govt lost track of 1,500 of these kids and do not know where they are now.

Now due to the policy change the children are separated from their parents and placed in HHS centers under the care of the US Govt until their parents immigration trial is complete. The HHS said this policy change helps the US Govt to ensure these children do not become victims of human trafficking while their parents are going through immigration courts.

Now HHS facilities that are housing these children are 95% full and the HHS is looking to start potentially housing children on US military bases in tent cities to ease the strain on their facilities.

I didn't hear much about this on the national news but today Pence spoke to the Southern Baptist Convention annual meeting yesterday.

Before he did a measure was put forward for a vote by Del Ray Baptist Church in Alexandria Virginia that said
For many years we have been talking about loving and listening to our minority brothers and sisters. This invitation [of Pence] does nothing to suggest that we are actually listening,”

The SBC voted on the measure and it didn't pass, but no official vote count was released on the measure.

When Pence took the stage he was greeted warmly by a standing ovation but when he started speaking, hundreds of attendees held up yellow ballots in support of the measure to not have Pence be invited.

The Washington Post reported that 30%-40% of the people in attendance had requested that Pence not be allowed to speak and his time instead be replaced by a time of prayer.

Earlier this month a coalition of evangelical leaders released a statement urging Trump to reconsider the zero tolerance policy which included a large delegation from the SBC called the Ethics and Religious Liberty Comission

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo who serves as the leading administrator of the Catholic Church for the US and is President of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops releases statement condemning the Trump Admin zero tolerance policy

Cardinal Daniel DiNardo said
"while protecting our borders is important" separating families is "not the answer."

"Families are the foundational element of society and they must be able to stay together,"

"While protecting our borders is important, we can and must do better as a government, and as a society, to find other ways to ensure that safety,"

"Separating babies from their mothers is not the answer and it is immoral,"

DiNardo also said Attorney General Jeff Sessions' recent decision to overturn asylum protections for victims of domestic and gang violence "elicits deep concern," saying the move "potentially strips asylum from many women who lack adequate protection."

"Unless overturned, the decision will erode the capacity of asylum to save lives,"

When American citizens are arrested they are separated from their kids they can't take them to where they are being incarcerated. Why should illegals be handled differently? Sending them to relatives in the USA will just encourage more to come and we should not be encouraging more people to break our immigration laws.

Can you give another example of children being taken away and put in prolonged care elsewhere in the country for a misdemeanor crime?
Why aren't we putting the owners of the businesses that hire illegal workers in jail and taking their kids away if the purpose of doing so is a deterrent? I think if you owned a roofing company you would be a lot more careful to make sure you were hiring legal workers if you would be put in jail and have your kids taken if you didn't.
Why are we encouraging employers to break our immigration laws like this?

I agree we need to hammer businesses that hire illegals fine the crap out of them. Shoplifter gets arrested with her child and no relative
in the area the child will be put in protective custody until she makes bail. The parents are responsible for putting their kids in the situation. Simple solution if you don't want your kids taken from you don't bring them here. I feel bad for people living in all the shitholes of the world but we can't take them all. Either we have laws or we don't.

Here is a thought.... since Arizona is already on the border, and since they have a lot of tents already available since they shut down Sheriff Joe's tent city - just put them all there. I think the tents might be pink, but that might be more soothing for the kids.

Maybe they shouldnt come across illegally yeah? But to be frank, we seriously need a wall and increased security with overwhelming punishment to deter these people from attempting to cross so we arent in this predicament. Tbh, this policy isnt a solution to the problem of illegal immigration.

POINTS TO PONDER:
<><>A common Third world practice is to claim children that are not theirs in order to increase the gravy train haul....especially the EITC checks.
<><> There's instances of border-crossers passing children back and forth for monetary gain.
<><> Sometimes the border jumpers claim children "back home" who do not even exist on EITC forms.
<><>The "parents" jumping the border may by anything but the ones who sired those children.....could even be traffickers, maybe pedophile pimps.
=============================================
AND THIS: THE GOVT OF MEXICO CONSIDERS MEXICANS ON US SOIL TO BE MEXICAN CITIZENS SUBJECT TO THE GOVT OF MEXICO
A sworn affidavit by Mexico's Consul General to a Texas court asserts that Mexico's official govt policy is to encourage its poor people to migrate here illegally in order to access our generous welfare system. The Mexican consul's sworn testimony asserts: "My responsibilities in this position include protecting the rights and promoting the interests of my fellow Mexican nationals, and, that the main responsibility of consulates is to provide services, assistance, and protection to Mexican nationals abroad." A footnote states that Mexican nationality is granted to children born abroad of a Mexican born parent. IOW, anchor babies born in the US retain parents Mexican nationality.
==========================================
Ergo, illegals have two governments looking after their interests.....our govt subsidizing them, and the Mexican govt making sure they collect.
Its time the US govt look after the interests of American citizens.

Obama administration placed children with human traffickers, report says (from Jan, 2016)

The Obama administration failed to protect thousands of Central American children who have flooded across the U.S. border since 2011, leaving them vulnerable to traffickers and to abuses at the hands of government-approved caretakers, a Senate investigation has found.
The Office of Refugee Resettlement, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, failed to do proper background checks of adults who claimed the children, allowed sponsors to take custody of multiple unrelated children, and regularly placed children in homes without visiting the locations, according to a 56-page investigative report released Thursday.
And once the children left federally funded shelters, the report said, the agency permitted their adult sponsors to prevent caseworkers from providing them post-release services.
Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) initiated the six-month investigation after several Guatemalan teens were found in a dilapidated trailer park near Marion, Ohio, where they were being held captive by traffickers and forced to work at a local egg farm. The boys were among more than 125,000 unaccompanied minors who have surged into the United States since 2011, fleeing violence and unrest in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.
