Football is right around the corner which means that we are now in the season of watch lists. Oklahoma State is represented by two leaders on either side of the ball.

Justice Hill was recently named as a player to watch for the Maxwell Award and Justin Phillips is on the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, both presented by the Maxwell Football Club.

Hill returns after a sophomore year in which he lead the Big 12 in rushing yards (1,467) and ground TDs (15) and is already in OSU’s record books. He is now one of 33 running backs on the watch list for the award for America’s “College Player of the Year.”

Phillips is the Cowboys’ leading returning tackler and will be key cog in Jim Knowles’ newly installed 4-2-5 defensive scheme. The Chuck Bednarik Award is give annually to the “College Defensive Player of the Year.”

Semifinalists for both awards will be announced on October 29 and a list of three finalists will be released on November 19. The winner will be honored during the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 6.
