FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Oklahoma State’s softball team picked up one victory Saturday at the NCAA Fayetteville Regional — but the Cowgirls needed to get two.
OSU kept its season alive with a 6-0 win over DePaul, but the Cowgirls’ season came to an end later in the evening with a 5-4 loss to Wichita State. The Cowgirls lost twice to the Shockers in the regional.
Trailing Wichita State 3-0 after three innings, OSU (39-22) erupted for four runs in the top of the fourth. The Cowgirls scored two runs on an error and bases-loaded walk, and Madi Sue Montgomery followed with a two-run single to put OSU up 4-3.
Oklahoma State's Vanessa Shippy was named a first-team All-American for her outstanding play at third base this season, it was announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association Wednesday.
It is the third time that Shippy, the 2016 and 2018 Big 12 Player of the Year, has been named an All-American after earning third-team honors in 2016 and 2017. She joins Jaime Foutch as the only three-time All-Americans in program history.
