Why is OU unranked? Is it ranked too low to make the list?

I found my own answer. It appears OU may be up to shenanigans again in reporting their #'s to US News.

"All schools' Unranked status will last until the publication of the next edition of the rankings and until the schools confirm the accuracy of their next data submission in accordance with U.S. News' requirements. No other schools' rankings were changed as a result of these schools being unranked. U.S. News relies on schools to accurately report their data. "

What in the world was Boren doing? OU appears to be in some hot water over just about everything that isn't athletics from his time as president.

Is #157 an improvement? Were we in the 160's last year or something? Our relative rank compared to other B12 schools has not changed, and no surprise Taco Tech is on the bottom of the list. Still would like to see us in the 120's though, if not higher. I think OU was ranked in the top 90's at one point, but maybe that was phony. I know they are trying for AAU status, I'm sure this played right into that.

I guess it's not really an improvement but I wanted to dig at OU without making it too obvious.

A while back they ran a article in the Oklahoman that showed which counties were red vs orange, like an electoral college thing based on the number of grads in each county. The state was overwhelmingly red. Someone from OSU threw the BS flag and they found OU had misreported the facts. They ran a corrected map where about 75 of the counties were then Orange.

From the name of the mascot on a proud tradition of lying and cheating.

Without some major investment university wide, including higher salaries for research faculty, I don't see us jumping 30 or 40 spots any time in the foreseeable future. We're 10th in the Big 12 in average faculty salary and far down the rankings among high tier research institutions. We're probably doing pretty well given our fiscal realities.
