Looking to invest in a night time hunting scope but don’t really want to spend a crap load of money. Anyone know of an affordable gen 3 or better night vision or thermal rifle scope that can see about 200 yds? Want to do some hog hunting.

Academy has an ATN brand scope for $599.00 Has anyone used it?

I haven't decided on a specific brand or model yet, but my experience from using friends' gear and their input, I will undoubtedly opt for thermal over night vision.

You're going to have a hard time with a $600 NV scope. Most likely they're GEN 1... and they SUCK. Trust me. We had Gen 1 googles in the Army and we couldn't see crap 30-yards out. Then my BIL bought a ATN scope for about $1000, which turned out to be a Gen 1 and it was even worse.

In order to really see, esp. out to 200 yards... you'll need to spend more than that. Sig makes a nice thermal scope for about $1500.

Haven't used any of the digital night vision scopes but they are considerably less expensive and can be used day or night. I know the digital technology is getting better.
