The first half was fool's gold. We shot 62% from the field. They shot 28%. NCAA basketball is the most consistent sport in terms of percentages playing out. There was no way it would continue.

The last 3 minutes of the first half and first possession of the second half told anyone watching exactly what was going to happen.
Agreed. Also, I would argue that going into this game, our recent strengths (don't laugh too hard) would be dominated by what has defined WVU's team all season. Specifically, we have been driving the lane a lot and not shooting from outside. WVU's bread and butter is their interior guys and their defensive/rebounding presence. I'm surprised Huggy-bear didn't just run his normal stuff against us from the start knowing that our outside shooting is embarrassing and that we haven't moved the ball well in around 15 years (seriously, go look up all the Ford teams assist numbers for a good colon cleanse). We would have lost by even more had that occurred.

Ice giving away points certainly doesn't help and I advocated for Lindy to do NOTHING but work on his handle all summer. Sad to see he didn't do himself any favors there. Hope we can continue playing hard and attacking the basket for the remainder of the season. More AA and Boone's too please.

Correct, but we will have the athleticism across all 5 spots to compete and push the tempo. But that requires HCMB to get out of his current comfort and coach to his players strengths. If he has us in a half court set again next year it will be a huge waste of both Cunningham's talents and the make up of our team. We should be up and down the floor as fast as Ford wanted to go but now we have the length, speed and agility to actually do it.
One thing we will have next year is a lot of length. Conceivably they could start 6’ 4”, 6’ 7”, 6’8”, 6’9” and 6’ 10”. That would be Ice, Cunningham, Boone, Boone and Yor. And all reasonably athletic. That could be a dynamite defensive group.

Really? Substitute Cunningham for Mcgriff and we could do that now.

The only issue is that our coach can't coach decent defense. Chasing the lanes is not a good defensive philosophy. And defense was supposed to be his bread and butter. Offense isnt even worth mentioning it's so bad

Our defense actually isn't that bad, especially given the fact we have so much pressure on that end, since we can't score consistently. Our offense failed us in the 2nd half. Holding a team to 65 on the road should give us every opportunity to win games, but our offense just fell apart.

The games we lost are usually due to the offensive not getting anything going

Seems like an issue with getting out coached. :/
What do you expect though? Almost every coach we are up against in the Big 12 has made final four. We are going to have a coaching deficit in every single conference game we play. Perhaps we should've had a higher standard when we hired Boynton, but it is what it is. He has to get a full team of his guys in (not guys that were 2nd and 3rd choice at the end of a recruiting cycle) and he is going to have to learn on the job quickly.

So we have a half dozen or so coaching types on the bench at WV. At half time they got together and schemed to get us 4 baskets. Not even a basket per coach. The truth is that they could have stayed in the lockerroom and the players would have scored more than that.
