I ran into Pittman at Joe's one time and a friend asked him why he always had his hat off center a little bit. Johnny got a big smile and demonstrated for us as he adjusted his hat and said "I gotta lock it in". Seemed like a great guy with a great sense of humor. I also remember him coming in to a Bedlam game and fouling out in, what seemed like, a matter of a few minutes, but those few minutes energized the team and turned the game in our favor.

Geez....how old was he? Sad day, indeed.
I'd guess about 52.
I’m pretty sure he was a bit younger. I was in the graduating class that started in 1975 as a freshman and I’m 62 now. If he started 15 years after I did that would make him about 45–47 years old. Then again, I could be wrong!
