Very outer rain band of Florence showing up on Morehead City Radar. Expected these rain bands will be over land by noon tomorrow and will bring increase chance of spawning tornadoes

Major Flooding next to Coast already occurring..lots of water on that video

Looks like they need to change their building regulations where they don't allow completion of the ground floor. A lot of that damage probably won't be covered by flood insurance unless they were grandfathered in.

Actually they do, those ground floors are breakaway walls and the only things allowed down on first floor is garages with no electricity, water etc. It was interesting watching and learning that stuff when This Old House rebuilt some houses on NJ shore after Sandy.

There was another video of that same house showing exactly what you were talking about. some storm surge washed up and hit the back of the house and one of the entire bottom walls broke lose

First wind gust over Hurricane force have hit land with 85mph gusts in Cape Look Out NC.....Storm has slowed and is only moving at 5mph now....at this speed it will not make landfall for another 21 hours as it is 110 miles out....but forecast still calling for landfall in next 12-18 hours

Just made landfall at 7:15 AM local time there at Wrightsville Beach NC. Rain totals starting to stack up...30" of rain at Atlantic Beach NC in the last 24 hours. Several places over 25" and many approaching 20" of rain along the coast.
