Joshua Powell, who formerly served as chief of staff to longtime NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre, said the lawsuit filed by New York Attorney General Letitia James seeking to dissolve the NRA for an array of “illegal conduct” merely scratches the surface of a much deeper culture of corruption.

“I think the NRA faces a massive threat,” Powell said. “I think that the attorney general is really at the tip of the iceberg in understanding what's gone on at the [NRA] for 30 years.”
Powell, one of four top NRA executives named in the lawsuit, is now seeking to distance himself from the organization he once helped lead. He not only decried the alleged mismanagement of millions of dollars in charitable donations for the personal use of the organization’s top executives but also denounced the organization’s posture on the issue of gun violence, particularly in the wake of school shootings, as self-serving and dangerous.

“Gun owners across America,” Powell said, “should be horrified by what I saw inside of the NRA.”

I can’t believe it’s so quiet in here. I asked a question once about why anyone would need 10+ rounds in a magazine and I was nearly drawn and quartered. Never underestimate the power of the gun side.

Can only speak for myself, but I'm less than stunned that a political organization has people skimming funds.

People have various reasons for supporting & giving their $$$'s, but I'll never give a dime to a political cause, university or athletic department.

Powell was fired earlier this year for misappropriation of funds and multiple sexual harassment complaints. Now he's changed his stance on everything in an attempt to sell a book. I don't really know that much about the NRA, but I wouldn't trust a word this guys says about it.

Personally I'm for the 2nd amendment. I don't belong to the nra but I know many that have benefited at local levels from their education and safety programs. Our local 4h in Stillwater gets grants from the nra and others to provide training for instructors, safety equipment(glasses, hearing protection), ammo, clays, and guns for the air pistol, rifle, and shotgun courses offered.
