Some have asked what is newsworthy about OU's recent facilities upgrade publicity. The upgrades to Memorial Stadium are well known and everyone knew about the soccer, golf, baseball, gymnastics, basketball, softball, track and tennis facilities -- heck, even a rowing boathouse -- right? Well, yes, but not in context.

The point of telling the world we have top facilities in all of these programs is to offer a counter to what is truly newsworthy: the absence of these facilities at the farm school. After much bluster and evictions by eminent domain, the Ags lost $282 million that was to be used to build WHAT OU JUST ANNOUNCED. This timing of this announcement by Joe C and Boren is very calculated.

So it is exactly the absence of news from Stillwater that OU was emphasizing: no indoor practice facility (even though poor Sherman Smith's $20 mil dedicated to it was trashed); no soccer, softball, tennis or even baseball. The vaunted "Athletic Village" is vapor.

From the June 7th Tulsa World: "Last week, Holder was asked whether the Athletic Village would ever become a reality.

'I'm personally committed to getting it done, but I'm not personally able to do it right now,' Holder replied. 'It will take a lot of people making a lot of money to get it done. It's a pretty expensive endeavor.'"

Here's a picture of the "Athletic Village": (picture an emtpy dirt lot)

And don't come back with "but the Ags have captain's chairs in their meeting rooms! Ipod docks in their lockers!"

What they don't have is what they publicly announced as craving: an Athletic Village. Not to mention an indoor practice facility, keeping the farmers as the only Big XII school without one.

So take your bows, Joe C, President Boren, Bob Stoops, Gaylords, McClendons, Nobles, Headingtons and the 10,000 OU Sooner Club members that made this possible. No Wall Street slight of hand, no hedge funds, no rabbits out of the hat, no self-serving machinations (including tax dodges) by a megalomaniac looking to buy a university. Just professional leadership and tens of thousands of dedicated supporters of the University of Oklahoma. Not front page news, but newsworthy.

Hilarious...when your school can't match or exceed what OSU has done you have to tear our success down. Pull your head out of your ass and realize that your school also lost millions in investments as schools all over the country did, so dumbass, the guys managing okie u money are no better off nor smarter. My conviction is Boone will make a strong recovery as will our "fund". We'll have the finest stadium and facilities inside that will be paid for thanks to Boone. Opening Saturday will be headlined on Natl. TV in Stillwater with the opening of BPS and the premier matchup between OSU and Georgia. The athletic village will be the next masterepiece, then wussies like you will be forced to blabber about tradition and bedlam to feel your standard arrogant ignorance. Hilarious also that your new "locker room" mirrors what we did...the best flattery that can be given. You are one pathetic little girl.

This post wreaks of jealousy. What will you say when the Athletic Village does become a reality? I'm sure you'll make some kind of excuse as to why it is subpar just like you can't admit that BPS is one of the finest facilities in the country.

That’s nice support but don’t forget to thank all the mullet wearing trailer park living red necks that buy UO apparel. Those goofy natty lite drinking hillbillies are what is really helping the program.:D

Your just getting to the dance, OSU has played catch up with the big boys. We already have everything and have just been upgrading. The $200 million we have spent this decade was just upgrades. You guys are still way behind. Now we are looking at Phase 5, which we will get down long before OSU has anything new. We already had it and just made it better, you guys still do not have and there's nothing left to make any better. It must suck to look over and see IDF or the Williams weight training room, not to mention the New Locker rooms, Media rooms, training facilities and let's not forget the Impressive Switzer Center with those National and Conference Championship Trophies all over the place.

Out of all those facilities you listed, the only one we don't have is the IPF. Once again I ask, what will you say once ours is built? Do you really think it will never happen? I'm sure once it is completed you continue to go on and on about how you had one first. That of course will be a complete waste of time though because at that point it will be irrelevant which one was built first.

Let's make something clear douchebag...there is nothing that okie u has or has built that I want. The Athletic Village will become a fact at OSU and you can "upgrade" all the shyte you have, still won't hold a candle to the facilities at OSU. So, now you can let the air out of that puffed up chest, take another hit off your meth pipe and remember how bright your candle used to burn. Our problem with trophies is we have 48 NC trophies and finding a single enclosure large enough to house all of them is difficult. It must suck to realize that after 50 years of cheating at nearly every sport your school has, you still can't even get to half the NC trophies we have. F'in stupid bandwagon mullet.

Ya holder sounded really positive about the athletic village becoming a reality anytime soon. OU has plans to further upgrade their facilities too. The only difference is that while ou continues to plan, osu is telling everyone about it, trying to brag on something that isnt even there yet. Anyone can do that, but it makes you look silly.

Like I said, the IPF is the only facility listed that we don't already have. The IPF is the top priority and will be a reality.

Nancy, you're the last little girl that needs to accuse anyone of bragging. The way you talk you'd have everyone here think that you, the pc doctor who lives on Midol, were the left tackle for okie u. I guess we'll see how soon our state of the art athletic village is complete but as of today, our stadium and facilities there in have forced your bandwagon contributors to rush into renovations on yours just so you can say you have and they won't even be as nice. Must really hurt you're little training bra that OSU is doing what they said they'd do. Even your ex cheater Barry Switzer said it. Tough luck little girl.

Are you saying all this like i am supposed to care? OU has had this upgrade in progress for the better part of a decade. What youre hearing about now isnt even news; it's been in the works for a good long while.

Are you kidding me? Once again OU has the better facilities, you guys have done some good stuff but OU has just one up you guys again. Better weight roomS, better trainer room, better locker room, better media room, well just plain better all the way around.

In the works for a while...kinda like you been trying to derust that stadium of yours, right. You 2 are pathetic. Spend the better part of most days on our board trying to pump your pathetic little egos up so you can sleep at night.Nancy, why don't you and your tool friend get back to cheaters.com with the rest of your fans and pat each other on the back for being perfect fools. Your facilities will be 2nd class for years to come, a shame you can't deal with it.

Because you could shoot a rocket through it and not hit a fan. Now that the caveman is gone, their attendance will fall back to the customary team, refs and a few drunks looking to get in out of the weather.

Yes and of course GIA's attendance was just booming last year:confused: Have fun with your trash non conference schedule year after year.
