The (soon-to-be-old) business building has a recently-extended lease on life. Parts of the engineering college will have their offices renovated soon and they need a temporary location from which to operate during the renovation period, so they'll be moving into the old business building. Thus, one should not expect the old business building to come down anytime soon.

On the subject of that ugly old power plant coming down...I can't wait. That thing is an eyesore.
How much space does engineering need during renovations and for how long? Instead of razing Parker Hall, it was slightly renovated for the College of Engineering, who has been there the last couple of years.

No Parker has been in use as a residence hall for the last 6-7 years. Nobody uses it as an office. Scott was the only one turned into offices but engineering isn't in that hall either to my knowledge.

I am not sure. My impression is the engineering folks are going to use pretty much all of the old business building for the duration of the renovation of their current space, but that's about all I know.

My source on the original statement (that parts of engineering would be using the soon-vacated business building for at least a while) is impeccable.

That's strange, I was told impeccable had passed away last year.

It looks like a parking/tailgating area, but I haven't heard anything official.
I had thought it was gonna be an indoor track facility, but apparently not. It does look like a parking area.

Eventually, that's where the track will be. I think it's just a temporary space until that time. I could be wrong though.

Also. I heard that the old Civil Engineering annex was torn down? If so, that is good news it was an eyesore.

If only Kerr-Drummond and the Old Power Plant can come down we won't have too many eyesores left

Things I'd like to see:

When time comes, the old business building replaced with green space.
Gut the inside of Morrill Hall like they did Murray. It needs updating.
Replace Thatcher with a four story.
Remove the journalism building and add an addition to Willis for its place.
Tear down KD and Power Plant.
New iconic building where old power plant is.
Replace the Public information building.

Ugh... Some of the best times of my college career were in KD/SPW. I’d be cool with tearing them down if they replaced them with traditional dorms. The suites are nice but there is no way I’d trade my experience in a crappy traditional hall for a brand new suite. I knew 1/2 the people in my building, every person on the 8th floor. Unless you want to sit in your box with another dude it forces you out into the common areas where you socialize with other people. My friends brother is a freshman that lives in a suite, doesn’t even know who lives across the hall and goes home every other weekend. Yank-Yank.
