Owner of Minneapolis salon burned down in George Floyd riots: 'We need police'

The owner of a Minneapolis hair salon that was burned down during riots over the death of George Floyd denounced Friday the newly approved plan by city leaders to slash the police budget.

he Minneapolis City Council passed a budget Thursday that will cut its police funding by $8 million and use the money for mental health and violence prevention programs.

"We need police. ... We need protection,” Flora Westbrooks, the owner of Flora's Hair Designs, told “Fox & Friends," noting that people feel less safe amid a surge in crime over the past year.

Westbrooks owned the salon for about four decades before her business was “burned to the ground due to civil unrest” in Minneapolis on May 29, according to a GoFundMe page set up to help her rebuild it.

Minneapolis experienced widespread protests against racism and police brutality -- which often turned into riots -- that were sparked after George Floyd, a Black man, died in Minneapolis police custody on May 25.

Westbrooks previously told Fox News that local and state officials had failed to help her rebuild her business and she was faced with a $200,000 bill just to tear down the building and put a fence around it.

How is this "stupid POOP?" Are you somehow qualified to speak for business owners in Minneapolis who had their businesses burned to the ground? You have no clue what these people are thinking and feeling.
Are those business owners qualified to judge what the motive behind those actions were and who was responsible? It just as easily could’ve been Rightwing Nutbags causing chaos behind a peaceful event. Or Left Wing Nutbags behind an OathKeepers event. Nowhere did it mention who caused said crime, who’s been charged, or convicted. It’s just Fox News placing blame at the feet of their competitors audience. As usual, very American of said “news” brand. No actual news, just blame in all the wrong places.

So you're on record calling Flora Westbrooks (owner of Flora's Hair Designs) full of s**t for her fear of all the slashing of the police force in Minneapolis? That's what we are talking about here is the defunding and gutting of the Minneapolis police. Not these other hypothetical scenarios you just posted. Love it though, 2 old dudes from Oklahoma aren't buying what the actual business owners in Minneapolis are saying.

I suppose when you post an article about a local city political issue many states away from Oklahoma on an OSU sports message board you are going to get opinions of old dudes from Oklahoma.

That is a problem with the English language. "You" doesn't specify singular or plural. "I suppose when you" was just a general statement, not pointed at you as a person.
Well these last couple of posts have been very relevant to whether or not Flora Westbrooks from Minneapolis is really scared of no police presence in her community or if she's just lying about it as insinuated by olderschool and ODMcB.

First off, that’s a multi billion dollar, soon to be trillion dollar business model. And I can’t name one American brand that doesn’t use it as their number one tool. Second, if they can’t blame it, they’ll manufacture it.

Thread derailer here but it’s crazy.
In Hebrew and most other languages, there are separate words for the number 1 and the one that encompasses more than one IE- I’m 1 person in a family but all of us together make a different kind of one. Many come together as one. Those sorts of distinctions are difficult to translate let alone conversing in on a forum. Echad is the Hebrew word for an encompassing one. There’s something like 900 references in the Bible to the words of both the number 1 and the word one. When Christianity flourished, the new religion noted that the authors of the Bible knew in advance that they were coming because echad was used as describing the coming of Jesus as The One. Plural. As in the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Once the elders realized this was true, echad was stricken from most of the troubled passages. Or at least that’s how I remember the story.

A woman loses her business she's had for 30 years, she says she scared, and some of you make fun of her. Pathetic!

You really don’t get it. We’re making fun of you, not her. Because everything you post has zero chance of “showing your work” or making sense. Or being sourced. A legit source: as in a source an OSU professor could accept. It’s propaganda on every thread you start. And none of it has a shred of truth to it. And that truly is pathetic.
