You do realize you're talking to a slobbering liberal idiot who is personally responsible for polluting untold numbers of young minds? Good luck trying to make sense of the muck he puts out. If anyone can afford it, they need to put their kids in private school and avoid the ideological trash who don't give 2 shites about the kids. The results of their efforts can be seen protesting for free stuff and socialism. It's how liberal teachers measure their success.
I know. The private schools have the same nonsense going on. That's why home schooling is becoming such a big thing.

You are really doggedly corrupt. You imagine that your contributions to society are of more value than persons who intentionally devote their lives to helping kids contribute positively to society. You couldn't hack it in the classroom and felt like a chump for working so cheap. So you've become like an ex- smoker complaining and denegrating anyone who was so ignorant as to continue to smoke or teach in this case. You truly enjoy spreading your peculiar hatred with demeaning comments and ludicrous statements regarding public education as though you honestly believe every public school teacher is politically corrupt and spewing socialism to a captured audience. You are obtuse to the truth and couldn't be further from it. I taught carpentry you idiot! If you believe I spent my time indoctrinating students to anything but the workforce and construction you are retarded. You owe me and every other teacher an apology, but don't expect one, for you in your deluded little mind honestly believe only you are able to discern truth, only you determine others worth, only you can read others hearts and intentions. You arrogant self-indulgent prick, spreader of lies, worshipper of money and power, who knows the price of everything but can't conceive the cost. Congratulations you've got @Deere Poke in your corner painting turd brown paint on public education, but to you I say with a clear conscience: Fuh Q. Now call the monitors snowflake and further limit the forum to one lopside.

Job of a parent, NOT a teacher!! :cursing:

What ridiculous spin for indoctrination. Just confirms what many here have thought all along.

How many parents these days have the knowledge to teach a trade? Not many imho
I was speaking to the "helping kids contribute positively to society" part. That shouldn't have to be the job of teachers but the failure of parents to take that on has assigned the expectation for teachers to take it on.

For a teacher, ol' Pokey's kind of slow on the uptake, right?

Sacred Cows:

Police

Fire

Teachers

Admittedly, we need all 3 groups, but the number of injured shoulders from patting themselves on the collective backs can be nauseating.

If what @bleedinorange and his ilk isn't misguided, sweeping, and nauseating then I sure can't help you. I'm not going to allow anyone to demean the good people I was honored to work with. No apologies.

I dunno. I did private. Little rich shits made it extremely difficult for us non rich kids. Had such an impact on me that I didn’t want to be rich. I was afraid me and mine would end up like those families I watched for 14 years. Now, we are blessed. We could’ve done private but I wanted them in public schools. So we moved to a pretty good Texas school district. Yup, there’s indoctrination but it’s equal here. A child can go left or right or they smarten up and stay in the middle lane. It’s been exhausting as we still had to teach them the real world after classes. I think the exposure to the luntaism (my new word) early in life has greatly helped them to question everything and the motives behind those questions. I don’t know how single parents do it because it’s a full time job keeping kids interested in their own lives and in the world they share with others.

Really, I taught residential and commercial carpentry, from foundations through finish. Parents sent their kids to our school to teach them more than the basics and help them to get jobs. How that's narrow minded I can't comprehend.
This vvvvvvvvvvvv is extremely narrow-minded. There's plenty of capable parents out there that can (AND DO) teach a trade.

How many parents these days have the knowledge to teach a trade? Not many imho
I agree with @oks10 and many parents today not taking their primary vocation seriously... being a parent and raising well-rounded, young adults that contribute to good of society and their communities.

Your premise that very little to no parents can teach a trade is narrow-minded. There's plenty of parents (farmers, ranchers, butchers, taxidermists, leathersmiths, cobblers, clocksmiths, contractors, etc, etc, etc) that train and hand down family owned trade businesses.

Hell, I could teach pretty much any secondary ed science course with my alternative certification. I'm just not crazy enough to leave a six figure income to teach in public ed.
