Good debut for Hatch!!! 2.1 IP 0 H 0 R 2BB and 3K's...47 pitches. Kid looked damn good, mixed 3 pitches with his fastball, changeup, and slider.

Crazy to think it was a few years ago Thomas Hatch was squaring off against Shane Bieber (UCSB) in the opening game of the CWS in 2016. Now both are in the MLB, with Bieber with the Cleveland Indians and is one of the young pitchers rising to stardom in the game. I really like Hatch in Toronto. They're a very young team with a lot of talent. Vlad Jr, Caven Biggio, and Bo Bichette in the infield. They also drafted Austin Martin from Vandy this year, not the mention they have the best pitcher in the minor league system in Nate Pearson, who'll pitch this season at some point. I expect the Blue Jays to be really good in the next couple years. They also have a good farm system that has some young up and coming pitching.

Was surprised they put Hatch into the starting rotation this early. Was it out of necessity or is he really a Bona fide rotation piece for them right now?

When the Blue Jays got him in that trade, they viewed him as a starter. He was having a really good spring before the pandemic shut things down. He carried that into the summer training and continued to look really good and dominate at times. Pete Walker, the pitching coach is really high on him. There's a chance he has multiple roles and helps as a reliever for this season. Either way, his stuff definitely plays at the MLB level. IMO he's probably a back end starter, a 4-5 type starter. They have a guy in Nate Pearson, they view as their future frontline starter along with a couple prospects including former WVU pitcher Alex Manoah who was drafted in the 1st round a year ago. The thing is in baseball, you simply never know...maybe Hatch becomes the ace of this staff. He has the mentality and the arsenal to become a really good pitcher in this league IMO.

I'm curious to see if how he develops...will he be a pitcher or an everyday player?

His bat will be in the lineup next season whether it's at 3rd base, 1st base or DH. He's definitely put himself in a really good position with MLB scouts.

Hatch had another solid outing....seems like he'll be used as long reliever, spot starter after bringing up their #1 prospect to the rotation on Wednesday. Either way, he seems unfazed and has handled himself well. Here is an interview with Hatch. He talks about his high school days, recruiting process, college, and his climb to the MLB.

Cade Cabbiness with the clutch HR....He's had a really nice summer batting near .300 with the wooden bat. He's done a lot of DH'ing to focus on hitting, and it's paid off. Hopefully he continues to build, and carries it into fall ball, and onto 2021.

Zach Cable, Junior RHP reliever....still pumping gas in the coastal plain league. Continues to have the top FB velo in the league with 97.4 MPH, 97.3 MPH, 97.2 MPH, and 96.5 MPH respectively. He had a good outing tonight pitching: 1.1 IP 0 H 0 R 0 ER 3 K
