Thomas Hatch seems to be doing well during summer training, and seems like he can make an impact possibly this season.

-Jake Thompson has also been working at 2nd base with the Mankato MoonDogs in the Northwest League. His glove needs to improve to stay at 3rd IMO, but him working at 2nd base is interesting. Might be more comfortable in the MIF instead of the hot corner.

-Christian Encarnacion has wokred both at 3rd and 1st base with the Santa Barbra Foresters. This is a kid that could win the job. He has the glove from what I hear, and his bat will be in the lineup either on the field or DH.

-Nolan McClean comes in as a highly regarded HS prospect...similar to Bryce Osmond, his asking price was too high, otherwise he signs out of HS. He'll be a draft eligible sophmore for the 2022 MLB draft. It'll be interesting to see how he adjusts to college pitching. He's also a talented pitching prospect that can run it up to 97 MPH. It'll be interesting if he takes the mound for us b/c I think he prefers being a position player over pitching.

Maybe he could be a jordy Mercer or Brenden McCurry type play the field and then close.

You could....never know what Rob Walton has underneath his sleeve. I do think they're grooming 2 candidates to replace Leeper.

John Kelly is one candidate. He has the stuff as well as the mentality, but being able to throw strikes consistently is the key. He's been pitching this summer for the Liberal Bee Jays in the Jayhawk league. He's been consistent for the most part. Caeden Trenkle is with him as well and has been dominate...kid is batting nearly .500.

Zach Cable is the other candidate and he's playing with the Savanah Bananas in the Costal Plain League. He also has the tools, but needs to throw strikes consistently and cut down on the walks. He's been getting some good attention from scouts, which is good. He's been pumping 95-96 MPH along with a hard slider and change. Colton Bowman is also up there with him as well.

Despite no baseball season, we actually have a lot of guys playing summer ball, keeping their skills sharp.

Where did you find the stats for the Jayhawk league I have been looking for those trying to follow those two guys and can’t find anything?

You're not going to find stats. For some reason they can't find anyone to file stats for the league since 2017....one of the stories on the team website mentioned his batting average. I believe you can watch their home games online for free.

I mention a couple days ago that Zach Cable has been getting attention from scouts....this is why!!! I knew he can touch 94-95 MPH, but looks like he's touching 98 MPH. Like I said before, he has all the tools to become the closer, but simply needs to throw strikes consistently.
