Sweden Govt called their COVID response a failure and have opened an investigation into it

Sweden is 91st in population size and 14th in deaths per capita
Sweden is different than most other countries in how they handle things like this, the generally rely on the "experts" to make decisions and leave the politicians out of the decision making process. The politicians have been catching heat as confidence in the elected gov't has dropped 20% plus, confidence in the agency that made the decisions remain high. They suffered 5,900 deaths, with most in nursing homes they were slow to protect, which is one of the areas being investigated as well as preparation for the crisis.. However, they haven't seen the "lockdown fatigue" other countries have and compliance with social distancing and mask wearing remains high at 87%.

Soooooo, it’s better to force your population to encounter the virus before we have proven methods, therapeutics, or a vaccine? Even if the case counts eventually even out, I’m confident “dragging it out” will save MANY lives. BTW - you can’t enjoy a rebounding economy if you’re dead.
That's a misrepresentation of what they did. They just didn't close their economy, they still took precautions and wore mask. I don't think many are saying to not take any precautions. The rub is how bad do we shut down our economy for a low death rate virus... and for how long. Open with precautions...that has been our stance in red states vs blue states. We have enough data now to compare the death rates of the two approaches...

Seems like it works to reduce the length of hospital stays. But since people dying with Covid are usually dying of something far more serious it really isn’t surprising that deaths aren’t reduced. I doubt any drug is going to reduce deaths.

Stupid about AGW!!
"when I entered the White House grounds, that I had entered a safe zone, due to the testing that and I and many others underwent every day."
"I was wrong," he said
"I was wrong to not wear a mask at the Amy Coney Barrett announcement and I was wrong not to wear a mask at my multiple debate prep sessions with the President and the rest of the team. I hope that my experience shows my fellow citizens that you should follow CDC guidelines in public no matter where you are and wear a mask to protect yourself and others."

Sooo what is a Gold Standard Trial ?

From the paper, which is pre-peer-review:

Death rate ratios (with 95% CIs and numbers dead/randomized, each drug vs its control) were:
Remdesivir RR=0.95 (0.81-1.11, p=0.50; 301/2743 active vs 303/2708 control)
Hydroxychloroquine RR=1.19 (0.89-1.59, p=0.23; 104/947 vs 84/906)
Lopinavir RR=1.00 (0.79-1.25, p=0.97; 148/1399 vs 146/1372)
Interferon RR=1.16 (0.96-1.39, p=0.11; 243/2050 vs 216/2050)

Of the four drugs, remdesivir was the only one that lowered the death rate ratio, although with that CI95% you cannot say definitively that it was better than placebo. Likewise, with the other three, given the CI95% you cannot say that they were clinically worse than placebo.

I thought masks only protect others, not yourself?

If I were hospitalized today with COVID-19 I would want to get remdesivir.

High-flow oxygen, proning patients, and not putting patients immediately on mechanical vent has reduced deaths.
