You know what? I’ll take it. We don’t derserve to even be in the top 25 based on last performance. I’m looking at the 15 teams ahead of us and I’m cool with that too. Actually, I’m impressed with the company we are behind and even though our leadership is unorthodox, there’s some respect for ol Oklahoma State our there.
Well, we finally turned the tables on the SEC with overall conference W/L records and could lead to some perception of SOS.
SEC has 14 teams with only 8 conference games. Thus they were only guaranteed 56 losses. So also means 56 Wins and the potential wins with 4 non-con and you get average winning record of 67% (112/168). This season they play 10 conference games so 70 wins and 70 losses. gets average winning record of 50% (70/140). Big drop !
For Big12, we played 9 conference games so guaranteed 45 losses. Thus 45 wins and potential 3 non-con wins and you get average winning record of 62% (75/120). So most years SEC records looked better than Big 12.
But this year, we play same 9 (45 losses/45 wins) and 1 non-con so 10 more wins. Thus 55/100 or average winning record of 55% (55/100). So now we are 5% ahead of SEC instead of 5% behind.
Computers certainly would pick up this difference. Will coaches and AP ? Subconsciously ?
