Yes, to clarify a bit: Block 41 (just S of Block 34) contains the News Press office and Causley's. The article states that a group of investors has purchased most of the land on Blocks 40 and 41. The reporter speculates that Block 40 (just S of the Community Center and W of Block 40) is a...

Are you kidding me? - OSU should play with a chip on it's shoulder.

That could be a problem... It's not that unrealistic a scenario, either. It's pretty easy to see a 1-loss Big 12 team getting left out of the playoff. Especially since we don't have a conference championship game...

    Earthquake?

Sounds like the OGS has been having trouble keeping seismologists on staff lately. Now that the Oklahoma government seems to recognize that disposal wells can cause earthquakes--instead of pretending they don't--they might find that more earthquake researchers willing to work here!

Went to The Garage in Stillwater tonight with the family. Arrived just after 5:00. Short wait to get to the counter to order. They had every register manned. Decor was pretty cool. Star Wars, superheroes, movies, and car stuff. We stuck to the burgers. Daughter got a cheeseburger (Angus). Wife...

In my experience, it can go either way... Sometimes the "opening crew" is better than the folks they end up hiring to be the "regular crew". Sometimes you get freebies--"Hey, you want to try this?"--if you go during the "soft opening". ... And sometimes, it's a chaotic mess!

Here's the article for those who haven't read it. I've always heard good things about Charlie Fowler, but wow! Talk about looking out for your employees! Hearsay, but: A caller on RA's show yesterday (between noon and 1:00) said he just spoke to the manager (Charlie Fowler, I assume) at...

Game Day in Stillwater: Parking and Transportation

For those of you who plan to be in Stillwater tomorrow! The city of Stillwater recently published a new plan for 2015 regarding traffic flow and parking options. Story here. Of particular note to those of you coming in from I-35... Although Country Club is now open north of 6th (and 4-laned...

Sorry Townie, but Payne County Imperial IPA from Iron Monk is a great beer. I like their Milk Stout pretty well, but their IPA is even better. My two cents.

The News Press did a write-up on ElbtoVaquero. It is indeed owned by the same family as El Vaquero/Palomino's/etc. Maria Gomez, the niece of one of El Vaquero's owners, is running the place (with help from her uncle). Apparently with the smaller number of tables, they plan to do a lot of...

Where did you hear/read that? Any info on any new restaurants planned for the Academy-anchored shopping center? (And, do we really need a *third* Walmart grocery department in town? Yeesh.)

I think a "Five Guys Burgers and Fries" would do really well in Stillwater. My wife and I have both been hopefully speculating about them opening up a location here, ever since we first gave them a try down in Moore. I wonder if they could do well in the Dough Pokes location?

Per their Facebook page, Dough Pokes (on The Strip) is transitioning to a food truck over the next few months. Food trucks are popular now, and seem like they'd be much cheaper to operate, but I doubt they're going to be doing as much volume or offering as many different types of donuts...
